Pippa Bennett-Warner Career

Career

She began her acting career in Julie Taymor's 1999 London production The Lion King as one of the first young Nalas.

Emmie Thibodeaux, or Change, was nominated for the Whatsonstage.com Stuart Newcomer of the Year award in 2006, alongside Andrew Garfield. She went on to appear in Athol Fugard's UK premiere of Victory for the Peter Hall Company before heading to RADA in September 2007.

Bennett-Warner graduated from RADA in 2010, but she was forced to take on the role of Sophie in Lynn Nottage's Ruined at the Almeida Theatre early in the evening. The prestigious Carleton Hobbs Radio Award was given to the student before completing the course. However, she was unable to join the radio rep due to a previous job commitment.

Ruined, a two-hander (Crocodile, written by Frank McGuinness), was followed by Sinéad Cusack for Sky Arts after finishing Ruined, a two-hander. During this period, Bennett-Warner was cast as Cordelia in Michael Grandage's award-winning King Lear, with Derek Jacobi in the title role. She filmed small parts in Come Fly With Me with David Walliams and Ashley Lucas, as well as with Jason Isaacs in Case Histories.

King Lear's Bennett-Warner was lauded by Ian Charleson for his service. Denise's debut in D. C. Moore's latest play The Swan — a part that had not been planned for her — was performed at the National Theatre, followed by her playing Queen Isabel in Michael Grandage's swan song Richard II, with Eddie Redmayne as Bolingbroke in 2010 and Andrew Buchan as Bolingbroke. Isabel, Richard's loyal, fiery queen," received favorable feedback from the critics, with Kate Bassett of The Independent stating that "both of them (Redmayne and Buchan) are, in fact, outshone by Pippa Bennett-Warner in the cameo role of Isabel, Richard's dedicated, fiery queen."

She appeared in Vivienne Franzmann's second play The Witness in 2012 at the Royal Court Theatre. "Always believed Pippa Bennett-Warner had a bright future," Susannah Clapp of The Observer wrote. She's now playing 'The Witness' in Royal Court. PBW is entirely natural. Audiences, of course, adore her, but they do something else that is not always the same: they believe her. Bennett-Warner progressed to receive a nomination for Best Actress at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2012, alongside Cate Blanchett and Dame Eileen Atkins, who was named one of the 100 Most Influential Londoners in 2012 in the category "Generation Next" by The Evening Standard.

Swing Time, Zadie Smith's book, narrated her story in 2016. She appeared in The Maya Angelou Autobiographies for BBC Radio 4, from 2018-2019. For the BBC, she narrated Bernardine Evaristo's Girl, Woman, and Other.
