High school career

Dawson was a letterman in football at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas. Dawson kicked a 52-yard field goal at Nacogdoches High School in 1992 as time expired to beat Nacogdoches 31-28. Matt Stover, the Baltimore Ravens' placekicker, attended the same high school as a child in 1993, graduating in 1986. As a senior, he served as both kicker and offensive tackle until he injured his knee in a preseason game. He expected to have season-ending surgery, but he pushed it out, stayed kicking, and was named as an All-American and the Southwest Region Offensive Player of the Year by SuperPrep.

College career

Dawson attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, where he was a four-year letterman in football. In his first year of playing, he scored 80 points in his first year. He also set a school record of 54 points in a row. When leading the Longhorns in scoring, he received honorary All-America recognitions. He served on All-America's junior and senior years, while still making All-Big 12 at the same time. He received a B.A. Political science is a discipline that deals with democracy. Dawson is best known for his 1995 game-winning field goal against the University of Virginia, booting a 50-yarder against a 30-MPH wind to give Texas a dramatic 17-16 victory as time expired.

Professional career

Dawson was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent, but he was later released. He was picked up by the New England Patriots and added to the practice squad, but never appeared in a game for them.

In March 1999, the Cleveland Browns signed him as a free agent, and he continued with the team for 14 years before joining the San Francisco 49ers in 2013. (He was the only player left from the 1999 Browns squad). Dawson holds the Browns' most consecutive field goals (29) and the most field goals in a game (6). Dawson is the NFL's seventh most accurate kicker. Dawson tied Lou Groza for the Browns' career field-goal record with 234.

In 1999, Dawson scored the first points in the history of the "new" Cleveland Browns. In an 18-17 loss, he scored his first touchdown of his career on a fake field goal against the Bengals on October 10th.

Dawson defeated the Buffalo Bills by 56 yards on Monday Night Football on Monday Night Football, on November 17, 2008.

Dawson signed with the San Francisco 49ers on March 19, 2013. During the 2013 season, he had 27 consecutive field goals before his streak was snapped off by a 24-yard field goal miss against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. He spent his first year in San Francisco with the second-most points (140) and field goals (32-of-36) in the team's history. Dawson kicked the game-winning field goal against the Green Bay Packers in the 49ers Wild Card playoff game on January 5, 2014, giving the 49ers a 23-20 win.

Dawson attempted and missed a 71-yard fair catch kick in the last seconds of a game against the St. Louis Rams on September 26, 2013.

Dawson signed a new two-year deal on March 11, 2014 to remain with the 49ers.

Bills-Browns game to Detroit or Washington on Sunday is a hot topic, especially because of the snowstorm

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 17, 2022
The NFL may be able to move the Bills-Browns game from Orchard Park, New York, to Washington or Detroit due to a forecast lake-effect snowstorm. The league is monitoring the weather and has contingency plans in case the snowstorm disrupts Sunday's matinee. Cleveland is also scheduled to fly into the Buffalo area on Saturday. According to NFL spokesman Michael Signora, the NFL has been in touch with both teams based on a forecast that 1 to three feet of snow fell through Saturday, with more expected on Sunday. Moving the game to a neutral location is one of the contingencies, with Detroit and Washington as potential destinations. With the storm not set to strike until Thursday evening, the NFL will almost certainly have to make the decision to relocate the game by no later than Friday to allow both teams to alter travel plans and prepare the neutral site facility.
