Philip Anthony Campbell (born 7 May 1961) is a Welsh rock singer best known as the lead guitarist in Motörhead from 1984 to 2015.

On the death of founder and frontman Lemmy, the band disbanded.

Todd, Dane, and Tyla are among his three sons who appear on stage with his own band Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons.

Early life and career

Campbell was born in Pontypridd and started playing guitar when he was ten years old, inspired and inspired by guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Jan Akkerman, and Todd Rundgren. Campbell asked Lemmy for an autograph after a Hawkwind show at the age of 12. Campbell was playing semi-professionally with Contrast, a cabaret band. At gigs in and around South Wales, he later appeared with Roktopus, not to be confused with Rocktopus). He purchased his first Les Paul in 1978 at a New Year's Day guitar store in London. The guitar was later discovered but it was recovered.

Campbell formed the Persian Risk band in 1979, and "Calling For You" (1981) and "Ridin' High" (1983). A compilation album of his work with Persian Risk has been published.

Thousands of golf fans faced frustrating delays as they travelled to The Open at Royal Troon amid criticism of state-owned ScotRail for failing to address staff shortages.
