Early life and education
Hermann was born in New York City to German parents but he immigrated to Germany when he was two months old. He lived in Germany until he was ten years old and did not speak English until he returned to the United States. He attended Yale University. Teach For America taught high school English in college.
Personal life
Hermann met lead actress Mariska Hargitay, who married in Santa Barbara, California, on August 28, 2004, while appearing on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. They have a son, August, who was born in 2006. In 2011, Hargitay and Hermann adopted Amaya, a baby girl. Andrew, a baby boy who was born in October 2011, was adopted by the couple.
Career
Hermann appeared on a few television shows, including the soap opera Guiding Light (1997–1998), the ABC Family show Beautiful People (2006), and Lifetime's Eyes (2006). Trevor Langan, a defense prosecutor, has served on a recurring basis as a prosecutor on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
