Four workers at Tanskeys Bistro, West Kirby, Wirral, were left stranded when water submerged the South Parade on Tuesday. Pictures of the flooding show cars being moved by waves and footage filmed by staff at the bistro showed the parade and road completely covered in water. It came just two years after the council installed £19.7million flood wall defences to protect the seafront properties. Owner of the bistro, Hannah Cleator, told ITV News : 'We were hopeful that the wall would be the answer, but sadly the water battered over it - and everything got flooded.'
