Pete Eemeli Parkkonen (born 8 February 1990) is a Finnish singer who performs in both Finnish and English.

He finished third in the Finnish Idol competition in his fourth season.

After Idol's career, he began a solo career releasing albums The First Album, which debuted on the Finnish Albums Chart in 2009, was followed by I'm an Accident in 2010.

Personal life

Parkkonen was born into a musical family, and his brother Ville Eetvartti is also a singer. Pierre Rassin, a black French musician from Martinique who met Parkkonen's paternal grandmother in änekoski in 1953 while working for the traveling carnival Suomen Tivoli, was his paternal grandfather. Parkkonen has discussed childhood bullying he suffered as a result of his dark skin color, which he inherited from his father, Kari.

Parkkonen has a son (born in 2015) with singer Johanna von Hertzen, her second cousin of the Von Hertzen Brothers.

Career

Parkkosen's "Mies jolle ei koskaan tapahdu mitään", a song by J. Karjalainen, was auditioned at Parkkosen. During the competition, he performed several songs, most notably "Queen City" and "I Kissed a Girl." He performed Foo Fighters, Danko Jones, and Eppu Normaali's songs in the semi-finals. On November 9, 2009, the season finals were held in Parkkonen, with Parkkonen rated as the favorite to win. However, he was unexpectedly disqualified from the Final 3 phase finishing third. On December 14th, the grand finale was held in Koop Arponen with Koop Arponen winning the title and Anna Puustjärvi as the runner-up.

Parkkonen, Idol, received a recording deal from Sony BMG and was the first season 4 contestants to debut an album. In the first week of being branded The First Album, he debuted at number one in its first week. The album was awarded a gold medal after it went on to sell just over 24,000 copies. I'm an Accident, Parkkonen's second studio album, was released on February 18, 2010 but it didn't have the same commercial success as its predecessors at number 21.

In 2014, he was recording his third album in Finnish language. "Mitä minä sanoin" and "Mun" are two preliminary singles from the forthcoming album.

Parkkonen has appeared in a number of reality television shows, including season 2 of Liven' vieraissa (2009), where he sang "Womanizer" from Britney Spears and "Girl In A Uniform" his single. He also appeared in Kuorosota, the Finnish version of Clash of the Choirs, and appeared on Nelonen station, finishing second and donating 20,000 Euros to charity.
