Panagiota Calliope Zina (born 8 March 1975), also known as Peggy Zina, is a Greek singer.

She debuted her self-titled album in 1995 on her first album.

She has since released twelve studio albums and is regarded as a leading figure in the Greek music industry.

Zina was the nation's highest-certified female artist in the country's phonographic era (since 1960), with nine (at the time) platinum and two gold records.

Early life

Peggy Zina was born in Athens on March 8, 1975. She began piano lessons at the age of five and then concentrated on dancing, especially in the jazz style. Peggy Zina participated in several artistic school activities, including theater and choir, during her youth. She graduated from the Jeanne D'Arc Academy in Athens. Giorgos Zinas, her father, died when she was 14 years old at the age of 56. Stella Chrysikopoulouou, her mother, remarried Nikos Tsiftelis, who Zina has praised for raising and assisting her as if he were "her real father" before.

BMG Greece issued Peggy Zina's self-titled debut album in 1995. "An Pas Me Alli Tha Sou Spaso To Kefali" is her first hit with the controversial name and lead lyric "An Pas Me Alli Tha Sou Spaso to Kefali" (If you go with another woman, I will break your head). She began working with Lefteris Pantazis at the Neraida Club in 1995, then with Notis Sfakianakis at Gazi club in 1996. She then spent time at Vios Vios Club with Sakis Rouvas in 1999.

Peggy Zina changed recording companies and signed with Nitro Music in 2000, dramatically changing her appearance. "Ti Th' Akouso Akoma" was released on July 4, 2000 (What else will I hear) and was the first single from her third album Ena Hadi (A Caress) which was released in 2001. She spent time at the Cosmos Club with Christos Dantis and Notis Sfakianakis later that year.

Thanos Kalliris had suggested that she represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest on January 30th, 2002. She accepted his invitation to perform a song written by him. With the song "Love Is a Wonderful Thing," she entered the Greek National Final on February 26, 2002. With her song "S.A.G.A.P.O," she took second place to Michalis Rakintzis. She came to an end in a disappointing seventeenth place, "I Love You." In just a few weeks, the single earned a gold medal.

In 2002, Zina released her fourth album, Vres Enan Tropo (Find a Way). Zina was a key singer of the "lavation" genre on this album, alongside many well-known singers, like Giannis Parios who performed four modern la-ka songs, and acknowledged the artist as a key performer of the "lako" style. For the third year in a row, she appeared on "Maskes" in Thessaloniki, and after its success, she repeated the same music program in Athens.

Peggy Zina signed with Minos EMI for what had been described as a lucrative record contract after four years with Nitro Music and as a result of the company's demise, she joined what had been described as a lucrative record contract. Peggy Zina's latest album Matono (I'm bleeding) was released in 2004 after working continuously for a year and a half. Peggy Zina received her second platinum award for Matono, as well as her first Arion Award for the Best Folk (Laiko) Singer of the Year. The singles Paradosou ("Surrender") and To Kalokairi ("The Summer") were made into music videos directed by Konstantinos Rigos, and Peggy Zina was named gold, with Peggy Zina winning the award on December 3, 2008 during a certification party at Vox nightclub.
