CHRISTOPHER STEVENS discusses last night's television: Is it possible for those old home movies in the loft to be the catalyst to this tragedy?

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 5, 2023
CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: The most valuable historical data from the last 2,000 years may have been on video recorder mini-tapes in my loft. I've lost the battery charger, which is the issue. Of course, academics will disagree about whether or not my children's home movies from the 1990s are really that important. And they aren't right now, historically speaking. But films like this, millions of them being taped at family gatherings and weekend barbecues, will soon be a priceless social record in one day.

Doctor Semmelweis discusses PATRICK MARMION

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 14, 2023
PATRICK MARMION: Rylance is perfectly suited for the role. His bashful gynaecologist is perfectly embodied, with his hair combed forward before his ears and backwards behind, a mutton chop sideburns and a waxed 'tache.' He portrayed himself as a tumultuous dogmatist who is oddly unsure of himself when relating his tale to his wife in later years.

CRISTOPHER STEVENS: Father Dougal and Mrs Doyle... a union that will break your TV set

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 8, 2022
Some things are just wrong. CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: Some things are simply wrong. Never wear tweed at Christmas. Jeremy Clarkson can't publish a vegan cookbook. Father Dougal will not marry Mrs Doyle on any account. The very thought of Ardal O'Hanlon and Pauline McLynn, the priestly dimwit and Father Ted's neurotic housekeeper, as a couple is deeply troubling. It's almost incestuous, and certainly against all of Ireland's laws. Conall and Win, Sheridan Smith's tirelessly forgiving parents of Rosie Molloy, are here (Sky Comedy). Despite the fact that they only had one scene together in the first episode, the pair stole the show, and that takes some getting used when Sheridan is playing a party girl at full throttle.

We'll be rooting for Rosie Molloy, according to Sheridan Smith
