Paul Adam Career

Adam's first novel, Chair molle ("Soft Flesh"), was the story of a prostitute in the Naturalist manner, which led to him being prosecuted for immorality before the Cour d'assises and sentenced to a fortnight in prison and a 500-franc fine. Together with Jean Moréas, he co-wrote Les Demoiselles Goubert, a novel that marked the transition between Naturalism and Symbolism in French literature. His Lettres de Malaisie (1897) was speculative fiction about politics in the future. He also wrote a series of historical novels that dealt with the period of the Napoleonic Wars and their aftermath; the first installment in the series, La Force, was published in 1899. It was followed by L'enfant d'Austerlitz (1901), La ruse (1902) and Au soleil de Juillet (1903). His novel Stephanie, which appeared in 1913, argued in favour of arranged marriages as opposed to those founded on romantic attachments. His work was part of the literature event in the art competition at the 1912 Summer Olympics.

He was born and died in Paris.

ITV hit Popstars - that launched the careers of Myleene Klass and Kym Marsh - goes viral two decades on as fans reflect on 'unhinged' moments that would NEVER make it to air now

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 23, 2024
Noughties juggernaut Popstars has gone viral two decades on after the series resurfaced on YouTube.  The 2001 reality show followed aspiring singers in a documentary-style series as they competed to impress judges 'Nasty' Nigel Lythgoe, Nicki Chapman and Paul Adam and be selected to form a pop group.  The winners of the series - Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan - went on to form the chart topping group Hear'Say. The winners of the series - Danny Foster, Myleene Klass , Kym Marsh , Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan - went on to form the chart topping group Hear'Say.Meanwhile, runners-up Michelle Heaton , Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young went on to eclipse the winner's success after forming the group, Liberty X. Yet 23 years on from the groundbreaking series airing, fans have been rewatching the series in a different light, being left flabbergasted by the fat-shaming, misogyny and exploitation of contestants. So what were the moments that would never make it to air now? MailOnline takes a look back at the shocking scenes on Popstars.

Moment Darius shot to fame with cringeworthy rendition of Britney Spears' Hit Me Baby One More Time

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 16, 2022
Darius Campbell Danesh, a former pop Idol contestant and actor, was discovered dead in his US apartment apartment at the age of 41. The singer and actress's family announced today that he was discovered in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11, although the cause of death is unknown. Darius made his first appearance in ITV show Popstars in 2001 with his bizarre interpretation of Britney Spears' Baby One More Time (pic), but judges Nigel Lythgoe, Nicki Chapman, and Paul Adam were not all impressed. Darius tells Judge Nigel Lythgoe that he'll be performing his favorite, Hit Me Baby One More Time, before going back to other contestants and listing their audition numbers. 'Darius, Darius, forget the spiel, let's get to the point,' Nigel interrupts him.' Darius is animated as he sings the Britney hit a capella, with his hair slicked back and donning a goatee with his black turtleneck neck cape.
