Patricio "Pato" Garino Gullotta (born May 17, 1993) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player for the Baskonia of the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague.

He played college basketball for George Washington University.

He also represents Argentina's senior national team.

Early career

In Mar del Plata, Garino competed in basketball, football, and swimming. He immigrated to the United States in 16 years. Garino attended Montverde Academy on the recommendation of then head coach Kevin Sutton. Garino led the Eagles to a 23-4 overall record and a No. 97 finish. In the last ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50 rankings, 9 were ranked in the top ten Fab 50 rankings in 2011–12.

College career

Garino spent four seasons at George Washington University as a high school coach. In his last season, he aided the Colonials in the 2016 NIT Championship and was named to the All-Tournament Team. After scoring 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.37 steals in 32.0 minutes, he earned Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team and All-Conference Second Team awards in 32.0 minutes, while shooting.510 (203-395) from three-point range, he earned Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team and All-Conference Second Team honors. In each of his three seasons, he was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team. He averaged 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.71 steals in 30.1 minutes while shooting.589 (1170) from the field and.364 (102-280) from long range for his collegiate career. He ranks third in school history on George Washington's career robbery list (219) and is 11th all-time in scoring (1,536 points). Garino was a leader in the 2014 NCAA tournament and the 2016 NIT championship.

Professional career

Garino made the Orlando Magic for the 2016 NBA Summer League after being undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft. On July 29, 2016, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs but was suspended on October 22 after playing in four preseason games. He was purchased by the Austin Spurs of the NBA Development League as an Austin Spurs affiliate of San Antonio seven days later.

Garino signed with the Orlando Magic on April 3, 2017. In a 122-102 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, he made his NBA debut the next night, gaining just one rebound. He was waived by the Magic on August 1, 2017.

Garino signed a three-year contract with Baskonia on September 1, 2017. He made his debut in the 2017–18 EuroLeague season in his first season with the club and made 23 appearances, averaging 4.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He made 18 appearances and averaged 5.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game during the 2018–19 EuroLeague season.

He signed with algiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague on July 22, 2020. He averaged 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in six games. Garino officially left the Lithuanian club on July 7, 2021, on July 7, 2021.

Garino signed the LNB Pro A with Nanterre 92 on August 18, 2021. He averaged 4.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in eight games. Garino resigned from the team on January 27, 2022, 2022.

He signed with Girona of the LEB Oro on July 16, 2022.

National team career

Garino is a member of Argentina's national basketball team. He earned a silver medal at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Argentina's senior national team. He appeared in the 2016 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup.

In 2019, he was a member of the Pan American gold medal winning team in Lima. He was named in Argentina's squad for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup and earned a silver medal with Argentina, which finished runners-up to Spain at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
