Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie (born 27 May 1990), better known by his stage name Patoranking, is a Nigerian reggae-dancehall performer and songwriter.
Patoranking is a native of Onicha, and he was born and raised in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town.
He began his music career by doing underground collaborations with musicians like XProject, Konga, Slam, and Reggie Rockstone.
In 2010, he signed a historic deal with K-Solo's Igberaga Records, releasing "Up in D Club" under the organization.
After collaborating with Timaya on his album "Alubarika," Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Records.
He signed a record deal with Foston Musik in February 2014 and the single "Girlie O" put him in the limelight.
Patoranking announced on Instagram on February 9th that he had signed a distribution contract with VP Records on February 9, 2015.
Life and music career
Patoranking was born and raised in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town, but he has family roots in Onicha, Ebonyi State. He attended Citizen Comprehensive College in Epe, Lagos, and later joined Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri. Patoranking began his performing and performing as a street jam and carnival dancer. In a 2012 interview with Entertainment Express, he said his stage name was given to him by a Jamaican musician whose visit to Alpha Beach in Lagos. Patoranking has cited Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Chaka Demus, Majek Fashek, Blackface, Tuface, and Marvelous Benjy as his main musical influences. In the aforementioned interview with Entertainment Express, he described his music as a morally inclined version of dancehall, and that it spoke about socio-political issues.
Patoranking unveiled a single called "Iya Bisi" in May 2012, starring Qdot and Kbaj. The Drumphase-produced song is a blend of dancehall and fuji. According to Entertainment Express, Qdote and Kbaj helped with the song by sharing ideas with him.
"Alubarika" was released simultaneously on September 12, 2013. The song literally translates to "God's Blessings" and features Timaya's vocals. AJE Films produced "Alubarika"'s music video, which lasted for 4 minutes and 16 seconds. Patoranking wrote an article in The Nation that described his life as a musician and said it opened doors for him in terms of establishing a fan base and working with established musicians.
Patoranking signed a record deal with Foston Musik in February 2014 and left Dem Mama Records as a result of his affiliation. Timaya said Patoranking left his name and never signed during an interview with Toolz on NdaniTV's The Juice. Patoranking unveiled "Girlie O," a WizzyPro song, on February 4th, 2014. Moe Musa's music video for the song was shot and edited in London and released on February 5th, 2014. Patoranking saves his next-door neighbor from domestic abuse by expressing his inherent emotions to her in this music video.
Foston Musik performed the Tiwa Savage O" (Remix) on May 19th, 2014 to critical acclaim. It debuted at No. 1 on the charts. The Official Naija Top ten chart on MTV Base ranks 9 people on the Official Naija Top ten charts. Tiwa Savage told Ehiz of MTV Base that she adores Patoranking's music and wanted to bring him out to him to do the remix. Moe Musa shot and edited "Girlie O" (Remix), which was also shot and edited in London. "On the new remix, the basic winning elements were not lost," Pulse Nigeria's Joey Akan said. They were retained and improved. The beat, chorus, and dynamism were all retained, with major work being put into the lyrics."
Patoranking appeared on Seyi Shay's "Murda" single with Shaydee. Dokta Frabz produced the album on April 1, 2014 and was released on April 1st. The music video for "Murda" was posted on Vevo on May 11, 2014. Meji Alabi of JM Films produced the film. "Daniella Whine" and "My Woman, My Everything" singles charted on MTV Base's Official Naija Top 10 charts, according to Patoranking's Official Naija Top 10 charts.
