Mauricio Pochettino is to blame for the flat atmosphere at Stamford Bridge this season, rather than his Chelsea predecessors, according to Mail Sport's Football Editor Ian Ladyman. Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin's comment about the lackluster vibe in west London ahead of the club's Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough was enraged by the Argentine boss's anger. The Blues icon likened Stamford Bridge to a "mausoleum," but Pochettino said that the club was now 'paying' for (the effect of 18 months'.

Pat Nevin, a former Blues player, described the atmosphere at home games this season as 'a mausoleum,' while visiting Chelsea supporters immediately after the first leg at the Riverside Stadium two weeks ago.

IAN HERBERT: Mullets, moustaches and magic as golden age of football sticker albums makes welcome return with Panini's 2024 Premier League collection

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 5, 2023
IAN HERBERT: Most players will not know that they have been given a coveted and indelible position in what will be a crucial volume of football social history this week amid the countless glories of a Premier League career, the opulent wealth, the sculpted brands, and the PR gloss. In the 2024 Panini sticker book, which was released on Wednesday, it might not seem much now - a 10cm by 5cm head shot. But, in years to come, the fortunate few will see it as something that captures them at an extraordinary moment in their lives - young, vibrant, fresh-faced, believing.

After feeling he had "no bad feelings" against Chelsea after being sacked from the Blues media team in the aftermath of his dismissal, Pat Nevin broke his silence to thank well-wishers

Pat Nevin, a Chelsea legend, has written a thoughtful reply to his followers three days after it was announced that he had been barred from his position as part of the Blues' media staff without being given reason. Nevin is said to have received a note from higher-ups at the club, advising that his services will no longer be needed, but that he hasn't heard nothing from Todd Boehly, CEO Chirs Jurasek or Clearlake Capital. The note is not reported to have explained why the former winger - who made 242 appearances in Chelsea blue - would not be returning to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea tell club legend he's being DITCHED from their media team and cancel his regular column after he was questioned over its content since Todd Boehly and Clearlake's takeover

According to Chelsea legend Pat Nevin, he was suspended from his position as part of the club's media staff without being given a reason. Nevin played for the Blues for five years, scoring 36 league goals in west London, before moving to Everton, Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock, and Motherwell's 2000 retirement. However, the Scot had always been close to Chelsea and had taken up a media presence with his former employers, including online and in matchday broadcasting.

After fighting back to beat Newcastle with ten men, Pat Nevin praises Liverpool's mental stability, though Andros Townsend admits his former club was struck by a "sucker punch" following Darwin Nunez' late double

Liverpool's winning mentality, according to Pat Nevin, made the difference-maker when the club went from a goal down to defeat Newcastle with ten men on Sunday. When the Magpies went in front through Anthony Gordon in the 25th minute, they appeared to be in a good spot, and Virgil van Dijk was sent off for a last-man assault on Aleksander Isak just three minutes later. Liverpool refused to give in, and after riding their luck at times, they turned the game on its head late on, with Darwin Nunez coming off the bench to score twice twice.

Craig Brown's former player - and good friend - Pat Nevin - a personal tribute

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 26, 2023
PAT NEVIN: Craig Brown, after my own father, was the most influential and important figure in my life. I would not have become a professional footballer without him. It's as simple as that. In 1981, I was playing for Gartcosh United against what we suspected to be Clyde reserves. It turned out that there were actually some first-team players in their squad, although I didn't know until later.

Tears, sadness, loss, and a desire to join Celtic that eluded Pat Nevin were all present

VIEW BY HUGH MACDONALD: A talk with Pat Nevin can be used to recreate his meandering runs as a player, effectively ending in what is now known as an end product. An hour and a half in a Glasgow bookshop encompasses his son's autism, the death of a Motherwell youth player, the club's leadership, and Andy Goram's treatment of death threats in the aftermath of a portrait of him in front of a UVF flag. The manager's office was also swept for listening devices. Or not.

Almost 20 years on from the day Ken Bates sold Chelsea to an unknown Russian billionaire

BY ROBERT DINEEN: Exclusive INTERVIEW BY ROBERT DINEEN: No investor is safe from his censure, regardless of the form of American wealth fund that bought his beloved Chelsea. The Arabs are the Arabs.' Qataris, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Bahrain... clubs are either a rich man's plaything or worse, one of them, "we've [tryed to] emulate the American tradition, where they've had five to six national games, each with 10,12 clubs, no relegation, and they're all owned by wealth management firms," he says. It's just a matter of investing.' You don't win anything anymore; you buy them; and I think it's disgraceful. It's not the game.'

After Gary Lineker's dismissal, Pat Nevin defends his decision to work for BBC 5 Live

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 12, 2023
On BBC 5 Live, former Chelsea striker Nevin was introduced for the Newcastle vs. Wolves broadcast, by co-commentator John Murray, after Murray's 'an extremely difficult and challenging weekend for all of us.' Nevin responded by saying he had insisted that he would only work today, with scores of other BBC top talent not involved in a strike against Gary Lineker's dismissal from Match of the Day. You get to talk because you speak freely,' Nevin said. 'I went to Stephen Nolan last night,' World Service this morning.' I don't participate in social media, so this is the platform we need to start educating and getting through this. We know that there is a mishony between free speech for us and the BBC's impartiality.' It's where you draw the lines, and that line has been much too cluttered for both employees and the public. We need clarification, and contracts must be more specific, because everyone - from Gary Lineker to every match reporter - needs to be clarified.

As Graham Potter's side visited the Amex, the England international was used in a wing-back role. As the Blues searched for a way back into the game, he struggled in the role and was booted off in the 63rd minute. Nevin, the former Blues winger, ripped into the wide-man after the match, and warned that if Sterling's poor form, he may be barred from England's squad for Qatar.

Ballboy Charlie Morgan who was kicked by Eden Hazard is on Sunday Times Rich List

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 24, 2022
During an ill-tempered Capital One Cup semi-final clash against Swansea in 2013, Charlie Morgan (pictured right with his business partner) was thrust into the midst of a football storm when he was kicked by then Chelsea winger Eden Hazard (pictured left). Morgan, a 17-year-old ball boy at Swansea's stadium, appeared to delay handing over the ball after it had gone out of play for a goal kick. Hazard, a Belgian player who now plays for Real Madrid, and then attempted to kick it from under him, collapsed to the ground as Hazard tried to retrieve the ball from him. Rather, he appeared to make contact with the ballboy's midriff and was given a straight red card by referee Chris Foy. Hazards were suspended for three games as a result of the tragedy. The incident was also investigated by police, who later decided not to take no further action. Morgan's life has taken a new twist in recent years, nearly ten years since the incident. He is now a young entrepreneur, who has been voted on this year's Sunday Times Rich List thanks to his £40 million interest in a vodka empire. The pair, alongside school friend Jackson Quinn, 29, operate Au Vodka, a luxury vodka brand that the pair formed together in 2016. Morgan's meteoric rise is, on the other hand, is not a rags to riches tale.
