Critics have lauded a recent drama that told the tale of how a Dutch couple disguised Anne Frank and her relatives from the Nazis. In a small light in Amsterdam between 1942 and 1944, Miep and Jan Gies, a hero and wife, played a key role in shielding the Franks from danger in a little annexe. Anne's father, Otto, her sister Margot, and mother Edith were also on display, as well as the van Pels family who lived with them and Fritz Pfeffer before they were all discovered by the Nazis.
