Early life
In Bangalore, Chinapa was born. His father was a paratrooper in the Indian Army and as a result, he obtained his early education from various schools in India, including Begum's Hyderabad Public School and Faust High School, Secundarabad, after which he attended St. George High School Agra. He obtained a BMS College of Engineering degree in Architecture, with a thesis on hospital architecture. When he used to perform as a DJ in parties to earn his pocket money, his passion for music grew during his college years.

After a six-year relationship, Chinapa married DJ Pearl Miglani in 2012. They welcomed their daughter in February 2018.
Career
When he first won the MTV VJ Hunt in 1999, Chinapa's career as a television presenter began. Thereon hosted MTV Select, a program that introduced famous music and bands from various parts of the world. He debuted as an actor in the film Snip! Later, he hosted shows like India's Got Talent 2 with Ayushmann Khurana and several seasons of MTV Splitsvilla. He has also judged shows including Rock On, MTV Mashups, Fame X, and seasons 4, 5, 5, 7 of MTV Roadies. Since the thirteenth season of Roadies, Chinapa has been playing the role of a gang leader.
Submerge was founded by Chinapa in 2003 alongside his wife Pearl and Hermit Sethi; it went on to become India's top EDM firms. In 2007, he co-founded Sunburn but the company was unable to continue in 2013 due to internal challenges, and co-founded Vh1 Supersonic with his wife Pearl. It continues to be one of India's biggest dance music festivals.
