Early career
Lowe, a native of Auckland, graduated from Auckland Grammar School and appeared on local music station Max TV. Zane, a member of Urban Disturbance, an early 90s hip hop band whose main hit was "No Flint No Fire" and Breaks Co-Op, alongside Andy Lovegrove and Hamish Clark. In Auckland, Lowe and Clark formed Breaks Co-Op, releasing the electronic album Roofers in 1997 before they left New Zealand to travel and pursue other interests. Both will live in the United Kingdom later in life.
