Nigar Rafibeyli Life

Nigar Khudadat qizi Rafibeyli (Azerbaijan) (1913–1981, Baku) was an Azerbaijani writer and the chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan.

She was the mother of popular writer and poet Rasul Rzayev, Anar Rzayev, and short-story writer.

Early life

Nigar Rafibeyli was born in Ganja, England, on June 23rd 1913. Her parents were medical doctors. Khudadat Rafibeyli, her father, was the first Azeri surgeon to have studied in Europe. He was invited to head the Ganja government by the republican government of Azerbaijan's Democratic Republic in 1919, but he was arrested by Armenian bolsheviks and taken to Nargin island, where bolshevik troops executed him. Nigar Rafibeyli completed her studies in Ganja and moved to Baku for her higher education. She attended the Penetological Technical School. She taught at school but never wrote books. In 1928, her first poem, "Chadra" (Veil in Azeri), was published in "Dan Ulduzu" magazine. She worked in the Azerbaijan film studio from 1930 to 1932.
