Nicky Boje Career

Domestic career

Boje played for England and CCC for the first few weeks of the 2007 season as a replacement overseas player for Johan Van der Wath. Just days after, it was revealed that he would be playing in the breakaway Indian Cricket League. David Sales, the captain of Northamptonshire, resigned in 2008, and Boje took over as the captain of Northamptonshire. He recorded his best ever First-class cricket score of 226*. On September 3, 2009, he signed a new one-year deal, leading the team through the 2010 season.

International career

Boje's international career began in 1995 against Zimbabwe, and although he was in and out of the squad due to injuries, he quickly established himself as South Africa's first choice spin bowler. Despite a first-class average of 32 and both Test and ODI averages of around 26, which was the highest for a regular number nine in Test cricket in the 2000s, Boje often batted at eight or nine in the batting order. Despite the high average, he never reached a Test century, though he did have two ODI centuries against New Zealand in 2000–01. He also set the most runs in a 6 match bilateral ODI series in 6 innings, breaking the record for scoring the most runs in a 6 match bilateral ODI series.

Boje resigned from international cricket in December 2006, as soon as possible. He made his Test debut with exactly 100 Test wickets, and Mahela Jayawardene's wicket in his final Test marked his career's milestone.
