Early life
Robinson was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 22, 1995. He has four younger siblings. Denise Podnar is his mother. Robinson began attending Seattle Preparatory School but left early in his freshman year and moved to Los Angeles after booking a regular role on Melissa & Joey. In 2013, he graduated from Campbell Hall School. He was accepted to the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University and spent the summer with Melissa & Joey's second season.
Career
Robinson made his professional debut at the age of 11 by playing in a stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol. Matt Casella, a talent scout, referred him to a few companies, but Robinson was eventually hired by the Los Angeles-based Savage Agency. Robinson's family migrated to Washington, where he continued to perform on stage in and around Seattle, after the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike.
Robinson appeared on the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey in 2010 as Ryder Scanlon, the nephew of Melissa Joan Hart's character, until its cancellation in 2015.
Robinson started filming of the Disney Channel original film Frenemies in 2011 while Melissa & Joey was on hiatus; he starred Jake Logan. Frenemies premiered on the Disney Channel in January 2012.
Robinson appeared in director Jord Vogt-Roberts' The Kings of Summer's lead role in 2012. During the third season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, he appeared in the episode "Blue Bell Boy." "Buffer Time Is Bonding Time" was also included in a series of television commercials for Cox Communications.
In 2015, Robinson portrayed Zach Mitchell in Jurassic World, in which he was often seen.
