Neelesh Misra (born 5 May 1973) is an Indian journalist, writer, radio storyteller, scriptwriter, and lyricist.

Early life and education
His father was born in Nainital, Deora, 42 kilometers away from Lucknow, and he was rushed to Deora. Shiva Balak Misra, both his father and writer, is a geologist in ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation). He later founded a preschool in his village for kids.
Neelesh Misra graduated from boarding school, St. Joseph's College, Nainital (1988) and Mahanagar Boys' Inter College, Lucknow (1990). He obtained his degree from Kumaun University, Nainital (1993), and then studied at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, India.
Personal life
In 2005, Misra married Nidhi Razdan, a news anchor and editor. In 2007, the couple divorced. Misra is now married to Yamini Misra, the couple's first child, Vaidehi Misra, who also participates in baby stories. For the neelesh misra display, Yamini also writes some articles.
Career
He has covered war and rebellion in South Asia for the past two decades, heading deep into the hinterland as a journalist. His travels took him from Kashmir's turbulent heartlands to Naxalite-ruled areas of central and eastern India, to the faraway north-east, which is home to some of the world's longest-running rebellions. He has followed the Maoist rebellion in Nepal closely. He is believed to be closely related to the naxalite ideology. He was given the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism and the K.C. for his reporting from India's rebellious territories. In 2009, Kulish Memorial Award was given. He is currently the Editorial Director of his rural newspaper Gaon Connection.
He has written five books, including the well-received The Absent State (2010), which he co-wrote with Rahul Pandita.
While writing a book in Mumbai, Neelesh met director Mahesh Bhatt, which resulted in his debut song Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai for Jism (2003), and he went on to write over 20 songs in over 15 films. He and film's producer Kabir Khan co-wrote the screenplay for Salman Khan's film Ek Tha Tiger in 2012.
He was the creative producer, singer, and songwriter in Band Called Nine, India's first writer-led band, with singer Shilpa Rao and composer Amartya Rahut, who collaborated with traditional Indian craft Qissa Goi (storytelling). The band was first launched in 2010 at the annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai. In 2011, the band's debut album, Rewind, which was made up of songs and storylines, was collected with a narrative recited by Misra.
He is also a blogger. His blog includes his experiences as senior roving editor, his views on various topics, and poems he has published. On BIG FM 92.7, he hosts a radio show named Yadoon Ka Idootbox, which is based in a fictional small town, Yaad Sheher, and is in its second season in 2012. On 93.5 RED FM, he also hosts "The Neelash Mishra" show. He and Karan Dalal formed Gaon Connection, a rural newspaper based in Kunaura, a village near Lucknow, in late 2012.
