Natalie Talmadge Life

Natalie Talmadge (April 29, 1896 – June 19, 1969) was an American silent film actress best known as Buster Keaton's wife and sister of her film co-stars Norma and Constance Talmadge.

In 1923, she retired from acting.

Personal life

Buster Keaton, a married actor from Talmadge, was born on May 31, 1921, at her sister Norma's house in Bayside, Queens. She was Roman Catholic, but the marriage was held as a civil ceremony.

Joseph Talmadge Keaton and Robert Talmadge Keaton were their two sons. Natalie spent substantial sums of money on clothes in Beverly Hills, and the couple enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle. She decided not to have any more children after the birth of their second child, resulting in the couple's stay in separate rooms. Keaton accepted this and said that they should keep any personal information private.

Keaton's career began to suffer after his relationship with Joseph M. Schenck was sold to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer late in his marriage. Talmadge legally changed their boys' names to "Talmadge" after their divorce was final on August 10, 1933, and denied them any contact with their father. After their mother was notified of a court petition in July 1942, the then-18 year old Robert and the now-20-year old Joseph made the name change legal.
