A survivor of the Turkish earthquake who was stranded in the ruins for 261 hours tells of his struggle to keep alive

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 20, 2023
Mustafa Avci, 34, was reunited with his wife and newborn baby after being stranded in the ruins of a hospital for nearly 11 days. The private Academy Hospital in Antakya collapsed just minutes after the laboratory technician's wife and his premature daughter Almila had to go and buy biscuits from the canteen. He stayed trapped, afraid that his wife and baby would have been killed before he was finally rescued after 261 hours.

With a touching goodbye video from the ruins of the earthquake, a Turkish teen captures the hearts of a nation

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 19, 2023
In the early hours of Feb. 6, Taha Erdem and his family were exhausted when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck their hometown of Adiyaman. His mother, father, younger brother, and sister were entombed in Taha, which was destroyed in ten seconds, leaving their apartment block in the ruins beneath a slew of rubble. In the mangled mess of concrete and twisted steel, he was alone and trapped, with waves of massive aftershocks transferring the detritus and squeezing his space. But instead of panic, Taha took out his phone and cut a remarkably calm and stoic video (left), in which he bid his family goodbye and expressed his sorrows, and expressed his deep gratitude. He was later pulled out alive - one of many inspiring stories of miraculous rescues and feats of survival (right)
