Mounir Mourad Mordechai, born Maurice Zaki Mourad Mordechai, was an Egyptian performer, actor, and a well-known songwriter of lighthearted songs.

When Mounir was growing up, his sister, Leila Mourad, was already famous and performing on the Egyptian radio. Mourad left his French college (Collège-des-Frères (Bab-El-Louk) in 1939 and went back to film, first as a script manager (Klaket) and then as an assistant director to Kamal Salim in about 24 films in the 1940s. Mourad attempted to produce and perform jazz music that was popular in the West at the time, but he had trouble getting it out and convincing people to produce it. His breakthrough came when he wrote his first hit song "One Two" ("Wahed... Etneen") sung by Shadia, which then encouraged singers and filmmakers to entrust him with songs in several films. Mourad was a pioneer in dance music and musical performances.
He composed and arranged much of Egypt's most popular dance music, including Tahiya Karioka, Samia Gamal, and Naima Akef. In Egypt, his relationship with singer Shadia was a turning point in Egyptian music history, since their songs have developed into classic songs of love.
In addition, Abdel Halim Hafez's songs were a special feature of the Halim experience. Mounir Mourad composed music for several other Egyptian and Arab countries with the same style, which is characterized by rapid rhythm.
