Morgan Harper Nichols (born February 4, 1990) is an American Christian musician, singer, painter, and writer.

She now works full time as a writer, painter, and performer, as well as traveling to teach, lecture, and perform.

Early life

Morgan Novelate Harper, the daughter of a preacher, Bishop James Henry Harper, and his wife, Pastor Mona Nanette Harper, were born in Los Angeles, California, on February 4, 1990. (née Tellis). In 1993, the family moved to Georgia, where her parents established Kingdom City Church in Stone Mountain. When growing up, Morgan and her younger sister, Jamie Grace, were homeschooled.

Nichols began attending Point University and performing her songs in local coffee shops at the age of 16. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English and later pursued her Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. She spent a few years as a college admissions advisor after graduating.

Personal life

She is married to tour guide Patrick Kekoa Nichols, and the two of them now live in Orange County, California. The couple were married on October 17, 2010. On May 30, 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, a boy, Jacob Henry Kekoa Nichols. They now live in Phoenix, Arizona, where her studio and shop, Garden24, is located. At the age of 31, she was first diagnosed with autism.

Nichols is also on the board of directors of To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit group.

Nichols began writing songs before she started singing or playing guitar.

"Doesn't Take Stars to Shine," a song she wrote and performed in Bratz: The Movie in 2007 as part of the film's talent show. This opened up opportunities for her, allowing Nichols to welcome jazz violinist Ken Ford into the arena. She began "Singing for College," her first national tour, where she raised funds for her college education in a number of American cities such as Atlanta, St. Louis, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

Nichols and her sister, Jamie Grace, appeared on a Gotee Records Christmas EP: Family Christmas in 2014. Also co-wrote five songs on her sister's second album, Ready to Fly, which was released the same year.

Morgan Harper Nichols, her debut studio album, was released by Gotee Records on May 19, 2015. Jamie Grace, her sister's appearance on the album's first song, "Storyteller."

In 2017, Nichols began a project by writing personalized letters for strangers as part of a goal to write a million poems to strangers in her lifetime. On her website, people are encouraged to write a short letter of encouragement to them, as well as visual art. This is sent to them for free and also posted anonymously on social media. Nichols says she does this as a daily habit of kindness and to "connect with people on a heart-level." Her words and artwork were entirely created on an iPad Pro.

Storyteller, her debut book, was published in December 2017. One hundred poems were written as letters in the book. How Far You Have Gone, a series of poetry and essays accompanied by photographs, is available in pre-order and will be published in 2021. Through the Zondervan Book division, she is expected to publish another book in October 2021.

Garden24, her mother's blog, was launched in the spring of 2019 in an attempt to display her artwork in a more personal manner than through Instagram. The blog is referred to as "a garden of people, assembly, and of art." It now serves as a reminder that we plant together, we bloom.

"The Morgan Harper Nichols Show" on September 19, Nichols' "interviews storytellers on finding meaning and happiness in life and work," she said. She has filmed and recorded interviews with over 35 people, and she currently airs an episode every morning from Monday to Friday.

Storyteller, Nichols' app, was launched by MHN in October 2019 by Nichols Pty Ltd. The app gives users inspiration and encouragement to "keep telling your tale." Some of the highlights on this page include daily wallpaper art, emails, and alerts.

After the realization that you are growing 24 hours a day, Nichols launched Garden24, a 24-hour shop. The store sells a set of items, including her calendar, prints of her artwork, stickers, and two books.
