Dmytro Monatyk (born 1 April 1986 in Lutsk) is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, dancer, and composer. On May 9, he became the first semi-finalist of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

Early years

He was a member of the Lutsk Breakdance Crew', which became the best 'B-boy' group in west Ukraine from 2000 to 2006. In 2003, he joined the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, where he performed and learned music in his free time. He earned the designation of a solicitor after completing his undergraduate studies.

He made a finalist appearance at the audition for the show арика рок - 2 in 2008 (Star Academy), but he didn't become involved in this initiative. During her concert series 'Real O' this year, singer Natalia Mohylevska requested that Dmytro work on her ballet. Since he agreed and moved to Kyiv, it became a turning point for him.

He formed his first music group, 'Monatique,' in 2008, which saw two live concerts in Lutsk. They appeared in the funk and soul style.
