She is the CEO of Monami Entertainment, a multi-media entertainment firm best known for releasing the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop.
Life and career
Scott was born and raised in New York City by Haitian parents. Shawn Young married her in 2005. They have two children.
Scott-Young was approached by the Brooklyn company TrackMasters to come on board as their manager while working at Radio City Music Hall. She met music executive Chris Lighty and then co-founded Violator in 1996. Violator has helped launch and revive the careers of musicians like Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Q-Tip, Foxy Brown, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep, 50 Cents, Mariah Carey, Fantasia, and Missy Elliott, who continues to work today.
Scott-Young moved to television in 2005, starring Missy Elliott on UPN and starting Monami Productions, her own television production company. Jim Ackerman, a director at VH1 at the time, approached her in 2006 to assist in the creation of a reality television series focusing on rapper Jim Jones. Scott-Young changed the subject to concentrate on Jim's girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin and her circle of acquaintances, inspired by female ensemble-driven shows that were still popular at the time. Love & Hip Hop, a children's series, went on to be a huge hit.
The Love & Hip Hop brand is seen as an opportunity promoter, according to Scott-Young. "I would like to have a franchise that represents our culture, our people, and to have the ability to invent and reinvent as we expand into new towns." [It's] the ability to provide the jobs both on and behind the scenes [to women and people of color as well]. "I am a writer who writes about books."
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, Love & Hip Hop: Miami, Chrissy & Mr. Jones, K. Michelle & Stevie: My Life, Stevie J & Joseline. Monami Productions has produced Donald Trump Presents: The Ultimate Merger for TV One, Cocaine: The History Channel, The Gossip Game, and This Is Hot 97 for Bravo and Money, in addition to the Love & Hip Hop series. Power. Respect. For WE tv.
Scott-Young, a television presenter, is the CEO and chief marketing officer of MYX Fusions, alongside rapper Nicki Minaj, and the Haitian Roundtable. The RSQ Foundation and The GrassROOTS Foundation are among the many organizations that support television.
