She is the granddaughter of Howard Fast and the niece of Erica Jong and Jonathan Fast.

She is the author of two books, Normal Girl and The Social Climber's Handbook, as well as a memoir, Girl [Maladjusted].

She is a regular contributor to Playboy, Glamour, The Bulwark, and The Daily Beast.

Personal life

Jong-Fast is the granddaughter of Howard Fast and bookist Erica Jong and author Jonathan Fast's daughter. Her family is Jewish. When she was young, her parents divorced, but she was raised as an only child. She attended Barnard College before obtaining a Master of Fine Arts degree at Bennington College in 2004. She married CUNY professor Matthew Adlai Greenfield in 2003; the couple have three children together. She has written about her encounter with Alcoholics Anonymous.
