When organizers of South Korean entertainment company KAMP Global announced in August that a star-studded K-pop festival would be held in the stateside, it seemed too good to be true. However, on announcing KAMP LA's lineup, Taeyeon, Monsta X, Kai, Momoland, BamBam, and others, the multi-concert that seemed to be a K-pop stan's aspiration became real. KAMP LA 2022 took over Pasadena's Rose Bowl stadium from October 15-16 for two days of energized performances, comeback teasers, and community building, with fans from around the country flocking to the Golden State. However, an update from the producers ahead of any of the performers' appearances threatened to dampen the excitement even before it got started. Soloists BamBam and Jeon Somi had posted cryptic messages on social media implying that they had been unable to fly, and fan accounts of other artists running into similar difficulties at the airport. Artist BamBam, Jeon Somi, Kai, Lapillus, Taeyeon, and Zion would no longer be performing at KAMP LA after nearly 24 hours of uncertainty caused by a formal statement that it was revealed as a result of "unexpected US work visa issues and conditions beyond the artists' and promoters' control." Monsta X would also be unable to attend, according to a separate statement released the following evening.
