After being put into administration, the record and CD chain closed down in London in 2019. Before the pandemic, HMV had struggled with streaming services. However, Doug Putman, the founder of Toys R Us, who attempted to save store Wilko this summer, saved the chain. In 1921, the Gramophone Company opened the first HMV store on the premises. Miles Kane and Bananarama are expected to perform at the stage, as the three-floor store sells records and merchandise.
