PETE JENSON OF SEVILLE: After an exhausting 120 minutes against vain Mallorca, Athletic Bilbao claimed their first Spanish Cup in 40 years in a penalty shoot-out. Mallorcan players applauded the game as it went to penalties. They had battled for so long and now they believed they were spot-kicks, but they were wrong. Vedat Muriqi scored for them. He, for one, did not want to be on the losing side. Raul Garcia was not rated for Athletic. But, Manu Morlanes' kick was saved by Julen Agirrezabala, and Athletic never lost the advantage. Iker Muniain scored. Nemanja Radonjic's kick was missed. Mikel Vesga collapsed, but his shot was off target at the back of the net. Antonio Sanchez saved Mallorca by scoring. But Alex Berenguer buried his cup, and Athletic's was an honor.
