Locals are shivering over a 'bustling' town that has seen 15 top street names disappear in the last few years, as a deserted Banbury shopping center with rows of shuttered stores

Residents of Banbury's once-buzzing' market town have expressed disappointment at the state of their local high streets as slews of desolate shops and boarded up buildings gradually took over the town center. Some buildings in Oxfordshire's town have been deserted for months - even years, after they were closed down and boarded up. Over 15 stores have closed down over the past two years, with one of them, a council-owned shopping store just off Market Place and High Street in Banbury town center, and the others have remained empty since.

Welcome to the zombie apocalypse town: Despairing locals claim their once thriving high street is now derelict after slew of closures and new retail park opening up nearby drove shoppers away

EXCLUSIVE: Shoppers in Waterlooville, Hampshire, expressed their'sadness' today, describing how their beloved town centre would be dead if it wasn't for the supermarket. In recent years, what was once a thriving high street has lost many big name stores, including Waitrose, Wilko, Game, and Peacocks. A nearby shopping park has tempted shoppers with the allure of Marks & Spencers, 'taking the footfall'. The 'barren' high street has retained its Wetherspoons, but many locals are getting sick of only having the choice of a charity store or cafe when heading to nearby towns by car. Wendy and Eric Croad, 72 and 75, have lived in the area since 1955, but they are sad to see the area's dramatic decline.

The tiny town that runs off traffic fines: A Louisiana street that has only 226 people earns over $1 million per year from the village's targeting drivers (and if you want to appeal, you must first consult the Mayor)

A tiny town in Louisian, population 226, saw more than a $1 million in a single year, much as Louisiana's third largest city with nearly nine times the population - targeting drivers. According to ProPublica, the teen village made more money from fines and forfeitures, mainly traffic tickets, than nearly every other municipality in Louisiana. Many who have a problem with their ticket or fine should contact Mayor Eddie Alfred, Jr., who appears to play both roles. He is in charge of the town's finances as well as the town's judge.

"Mother-of-three" Anna was one of 200 people looking for Sophie, her colleagues Eve Smith, 21, (below left) and two men named as Rafel Jeanne, 24, (bottom right) and Shane Loughlin, 32 (bottom right). Eve and Rafel have been confirmed dead. At one time she was just 20 yards from the wreckage, not the police. Ms Certowicz claims they didn't take her seriously when she told them her daughter Sophie, 20, was missing after a night out on Friday and she laughed off her allegations by saying she was 'definitely out partying.' Sophie is critical but stable in hospital and underwent surgery for a bleed on the brain and fractured bones in her neck, spine, and face. Anna Certowicz, 41, said: "It's too bad to imagine what she went through stuck in the car in the darkness until it became light and then became dim for two days."
