Mike Greenberg Career

Early life and career

Mike was born in New York, New York, and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1985. Greenberg earned his degree in 1989 at Northwestern University, where he joined the Theta Chi Fraternity, and began serving as a sports anchor and reporter at WMAQ-AM in Chicago. He left WMAQ in 1992 to work with WSCR-Radio as a reporter (covering events such as the World Series and the Super Bowl) and host of a talk show. He also wrote a syndicated column for the California-based Copley News Service from 1993 to 1995. He started reporting for SportsChannel Chicago in 1994 and resumed his work. In 1995, he left SportsChannel Chicago to work at CLTV, becoming an anchor, reporter, and host of a live call-in show. He left Chicago in September 1996 for ESPN, where he became one of the first hosts of ESPNEWS in November of that year.

ESPN career (1996–present)

Mike Greenberg was approached about returning to radio in 1999, with ESPN Radio airing in just four markets, and as co-host Mike Golic appeared on a morning drive-time show. Greenberg said yes, with the understanding that he will keep anchoring SportsCenter on a regular basis. On April 26, 2004, ESPNEWS announced a regular simulcast. The pair joined ESPN2 in January 2005 due to their continuing success.

The annual "Sheet of Integrity" wager, a bracket bet based on the NCAA men's basketball tournament and the massive ESPN.com bracket contest, was one of Mike & Mike's most popular segments of the year. The bet came after Golic told how he would enter a slew of sheets into different pools in order to win the prize. Greenberg, who believes that picks needed some sort of credibility, insisted that any such entrant be allowed to enter only one "Sheet of Integrity." Golic would select one of his (presumably) hundreds of sheets against Greenberg, with the loser having to pull off a humiliating stunt that is usually on the air. Greenberg won the first year, but Golic had to do an eyebrow wax on the air. Golic won the next two years, and Greenberg had to wear the University of Notre Dame Leprechaun mascot costume on the radio for the second time on the Notre Dame campus. Greenberg, a former New England Patriots fan and a true New York Jets fan, agreed to wear a New England Patriots' jersey to a Jets' game and milk a cow live on air in the 2007 season. Greenberg, an ESPN baseball analyst who grew up on a dairy farm, gave him tips about milking a cow.

Mike Greenberg's last day as co-host of the Mike & Mike show was November 17, 2017. Trey Wingo, the presenter of NFL Live and ESPN's SportsCenter, joined Golic's new morning show co-host and the duo hosted Mike & Mike's successor show, Golic and Wingo, from 2017 to 2020. Greenberg appeared on new ESPN morning show Get Up!, which premiered on April 2, 2018. With a new show called Greeny, he has also returned to ESPN Radio.

After the Empire State Building opens to honor the Eagles, New York sports fans are outraged

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 30, 2023
New York City may be Giants country, but viewers were outraged when one of the city's most prominent landmarks was lit in the colors of one of the city's most popular rivals. The Empire State Building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, released a snapshot of its iconic façade lit up in the colors of the Philadelphia Eagles just seconds after winning the NFC Championship game over the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31-7. The Eagles defeated their NFC East foes in the NFC Divisional round last week, beating the New York Giants 38-7.
