Early life and education
Oloye Michael Agbolade Adenuga Sr., was a school teacher, but Omoba Juliana Oyinda Adenuga (née Onashile, of Okesopin, Igbo), a businesswoman of royal Ijebu descent, was a businesswoman of royal Ijebu descent.
Adenuga completed his secondary school education at Ibadan Grammar School, Oyo State, Nigeria, and Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro, for his Higher School Certificate. (HSC). To help finance his university education, he worked as a taxi driver. He received a degree in Business Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Pace University, New York.
Career
At age 26, Adenuga earned his first million in 1979, specializing in lace and selling soft drinks. He obtained a drilling license in 1990, and in 1991, he Consolidated Oil raked oil in the shallow waters of Southwestern Ondo State, the first indigenous oil company to do so in commercial quantities.
He was given a conditional GSM licence in 1999, but after it was revoked, he received a second one when the government held another auction in 2003.
At the first African Telecoms Awards (ATA) in August 2007, he was named African Entrepreneur of the Year (ATA).
Adenuga made a takeover bid to buy Comium Côte d'Ivoire, an Ivorian mobile telecoms operator, for $600 million in May 2015.
