Fountas can not be proved, according to the company, but it did claim the allegation was legitimate. Fountas reported on Instagram on Tuesday that he was 'I am able to announce (sic) that the investigation into the allegation of bigotry is complete and closed.'

Taxi Fountas, a DC United player, has taken to Instagram to deny allegations that he verbally insulted Inter Miami's Damion Lowe in the MLS game on Sunday night. In a tweet on Monday, Fountas said, "I did not use the word I am being accused of using incorrectly." That revolting racial insult is one I denounced and did not use. We had a tense discussion on the field, but I haven't racially insulted anyone.' I vehemently oppose bigotry of any kind. It's disgusting.'
