Career

In 1979, Lamy moved to New York and then settled in Los Angeles, where she opened a fashion line and operated two cult restaurants/nightclubs with her first husband, experimental filmmaker Richard Newton. She was an iconic figure of nightlife in Los Angeles in the middle of the 1990s, with her tattooed fingers and gold-plated teeth. During her first trip to North Africa when she was 17 or 18 years old, her tattoos were inspired by Berbers.

In 1990, Lamy Lamy founded Lamy, a clothing brand. Rick Owens was hired as her business partner and, later, her companion and husband, who became her husband and father. In 2003, Lamy and Owens left Los Angeles to Paris and married in 2006. The pair formed Owenscorp in 2004, describing their company relationship as "asking a gypsy to orchestrate a war with a fascist."

. The Owens name is on the furniture at Lamy. Loree Rodkin also makes jewelry and appears in FKA twigs and Black Asteroid music videos. Nico Vascellari and her daughter Scarlett Rouge formed the band LAVASCAR with artist Nico Vascellari and her daughter Scarlett Rouge.

In November 2010, Lamy and the photographer Steven Klein shot for Vogue Paris. In 2013, Lamy was featured in Forbes with her daughter from her first marriage, artist Scarlett Rouge. In 2015, she was featured in one of FKA Twigs' EP M3LL155X videos. Lamy appeared in the first clip of Figure 8. Figuration 8: Lamy was wearing a luminous bulb imitating an anglerfish.

Lamy converted an old container ship into a floating saloon at the Venice Biennale in 2016. She and her good friend, rapper A$AP Rocky, wrote songs together in the same year. "Hardly anyone knows how important you have been behind the scenes for my career," Rocky said of Lamy. You didn't only design my album covers, but you took me to art fairs and showed me the art world.

In Lou Stoppard's book Fashion Together: Fashion's Most Unique Duos on Collaboration, Lamy and Rick Owens were included in 2017 and titled Fashion Together: Fashion's Most Unique and Famous Duos on Collaboration. Owens wrote that Lamy was more his "mate" than "muse" in the book. "I don't think anyone would ever think of Michèle as a passive muse." Because she doesn't fit the traditional role of a muse, I believe that's why she sparks people's curiosity.

Lamy has been boxing for 35 years. In 2018, she opened "Lamyland" in Selfridges, London. The space was previously home to A$AP Rocky's AWGE Bodega. Every few months, it is now redesigned. In January 2019, Lamy held "Genius You" in collaboration with Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker, which took place all around Selfridges, London. "What Are We Fighting For?" her boxing project's transition from May to November 2019. "She had been seen in Venice Biennale."

"I like to be with a lot of people and exchange ideas, and the best way to be is to do something together," Lamy said of her approach to fashion and design, "I like to be with a lot of people and exchange ideas."

In 2020, Lamy will film Battle Royale with director Katya Bankowsky, a series of short films starring Bankowsky and Lamy who are preparing for war.
