Lloyd Michael Warren (born March 5, 1946) is a retired American television actor and former college basketball player best known for his appearance on NBC's Hill Street Blues' 2008 film adaptation.
Early life
Warren was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Ellen and Grayson Warren. He attended Central High School, where he served as president as a senior. He was twice selected to the Indiana all-state team. He was named as the Bears' future, season, and single-game scoring leader in 1964. In 1992, he was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Personal life
Warren married Sue Narramore in 1974, with whom he had a daughter, Kekoa Brianna "Koa" Warren, and his son, Cash Garner Warren. Warren married Jenny Palacios, who had a daughter, Makayla, and a son, Grayson Andres, after his first marriage ended in divorce. Warren is the father-in-law of American actress Jessica Alba, who was born in Cash.
College basketball career
Warren was a three-year college letterman and starting guard at UCLA, where he was a three-year varsity letterman and starting guard from 1966-68. The Bruins' Lew Alcindor, a pioneer, established 30–0 in 1967 and 29–1 in 1968. Both teams, coached by legendary coach John Wooden, have won the NCAA national championship. Warren, the youngest Bruins starter at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), averaged 12.4 points as a junior in 1967. In 1968, he was named on the NCAA All-Tournament team and was one of three players on the UCLA team, as well as Alcindor and guard Lucius Allen. The squad has been named one of the best in college basketball history. Warren was also named as the Bruins' top "team player" in 1966 and 1968, and he received the award in 1966.
Warren was Alcindor and Warren later crossed paths in the 1980 film Airplane when Warren was an extra in the hospital flashback scene. Warren was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
Acting career
Warren will continue to work as an actor in television. In addition to his starring role on Hill Street Blues, he appeared on The White Shadow, a co-starring role on the CBS series City of Angels, a regular appearance on the showtime series Soul Food, and as Jason on Marcus Welby, M.D.
He appeared in Drive, He Said (1971), directed by Jack Nicholson. In 1974, he appeared on NBC adventure series Sierra P. J. Lewis and went on to play a rookie pilot for a potential backdoor pilot. Willie Miller, the first attempt by Hill Street Blues executive producer Steven Bochco, appeared on the CBS crime drama Paris in 1979.
He appeared in In the House opposite LL Cool J as Debbie Allen's ex-husband. He appeared on Fox sitcom Living Single as Khadijah's father, and then portrayed Joan's father on the UPN/CW sitcom Girlfriends.
