Post-NASA career

López-Alegra retired from NASA on March 12, 2012 and served as the President of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation until the end of 2014. López-Alegra, a respected and renowned space consultant, serves on several advisory boards and commissions for public and private companies, and is active in public speaking nationally and internationally. He is based in Washington, D.C.

López-Alegra joined Axiom Space as the head of Business Development in 2017. He landed in space in 2022 as the commander of Axiom Mission 1, the first Axiom Space Crew Dragon mission to the International Space Station.

Kellie Gerardi and Steven Baumruk's wedding was held in López-Alegruk in September 2015. The wedding of Sal Reza Arcelus and Jillianne Pierce in December 2019 was held in López-Alegr.

Ax-3 mission crews returned to Earth today aboard their SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule. On reentry, the capsule soared to 3,500 degrees Fahrenheit, crashing to earth at 17,500 mph. This landing marked Axiom's third private mission into low Earth orbit.
