Michael Imperioli (born March 26, 1966) is an American actor, writer, and producer best known for his role on The Sopranos, for which he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2004.

He appeared in the television drama series Law & Order as NYPD Detective Nick Falco.

In the US version of Life on Mars, Imperioli appeared in the 2008-2009 television season as Detective Ray Carling.

Before being canceled, he was playing Detective Louis Fitch in the ABC police drama Detroit 1-8-7.

In 2008, he wrote and directed his first feature film, The Hungry Ghosts.

He appeared in Mad Dogs, a dark-comic thriller television series that is available on Amazon's Amazon Prime subscription service in the United States and on Shomi in Canada, in 2015.

Early life

Imperioli was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He is the son of Dan Imperioli, a bus driver and amateur actor, and Claire Imperioli, a department store worker and amateur actor. Imperioli and his family immigrated to Brewster, New York, and in high school, they began to watch Broadway plays. Imperioli intended to attend pre-med at Columbia University but was accepted at Albany's State University. He had already registered at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to study acting shortly before he was due to start college.

Personal life

Victoria Chlebowski was married by Imperioli in 1996. They have three children and three children, with one in Manhattan and another in Santa Barbara, California. Tae Kwon Do is a favorite of his family and friends. Imperioli became a Buddhist in 2008, as a result of the Encounter Viperi's conversion.

Imperioli has been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and five Emmy Awards for his role on The Sopranos as Christopher Moltisanti. In 2004, he received his fifth Emmy for the fifth season of The Sopranos.

Imperioli has appeared in many films, including Goodfellas, Jungle Fever, Bad Boys, Malcolm X, Malcolm X, The Basketball Diaries, Clockers, Dead Presidents, Girl 6, The Stu Ungar Story, Summer of Sam, and Summer of Sam, which he also co-wrote and co-produced. He also wrote five episodes for The Sopranos.

Imperioli was the artistic director of Studio Dante, an Off-Broadway theater he created with his wife. He is a member of The Jazz Foundation of America and co-hosted their annual charity concert, "A Great Night in Harlem" at the Apollo Theater in May 2009, which commemorated the foundation's 20th anniversary. He appeared on Mario Batali's "San Giuseppe" episode. Imperioli took the lead in the ABC television show Detroit 1-8-7 in 2010. Gabriele Tinti's book "Pride" he wrote for Tinti's book New York Shots, and he participated in a reading of The Way of the Cross at the Queens Museum of Art in 2011.

Imperioli won the competition on the culinary show Chopped in 2014, raising $50,000 to his chosen charity, the Pureland Project, which builds and maintains schools in rural Tibet. He appeared on the Fox show Lucifer as the angel Uriel in 2016.

Imperioli appeared in the lead role of Rick Sellitto in the NBC drama series Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector on March 13, 2019. Talking Sopranos, hosted by Imperioli, began on April 6, 2020. As they track The Sopranos series episode by episode, the two characters share inside details. The podcast had more than five million viewers by September 2020.

Imperioli and Schirripa signed an oral history of the show on September 17, 2020; the book titled "Woke Up This Morning" was published on November 2, 2021. He hosted 632 ELYSIAN FIELDS on NTS Radio in July 2020, which was influenced by A Streetcar Named Desire. Imperioli performed narration for The Whistleblower, a podcast about the 2007 NBA betting scandal.

Imperioli is the guitarist and vocalist for the band Zopa. Zopa's debut album, La Dolce Vita, was released in 2020.

In the 2021 Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, Imperioli had a narrator.

Imperioli appeared in a lead role in HBO's second season of the dark comedy series The White Lotus in January 2022.
