Michael Carney Life

Michael Carney (born January 9, 1982) is an American art director, sculptor, and photographer.

He is best known for his extensive work with the Black Keys, for whom his brother Patrick is the drummer.

Michael has been the band's art director from the start, designing all of the band's albums, Brothers, which was awarded a Grammy in 2011.

"This is an album by the Black Keys," the album's front page states.

Brothers are the name of this collection. Nonesuch, the group's name, first expressed indignation, but the band and Michael would later endorse the simplistic marketing with complete support.

The album's disc was coated with a thermal film that changes colors (black and white) at various temperatures. David Browne's article "The Incredible, Inevitable Shrinking Album Cover" in the New York Times published in 2011.

The album's look was based on "the tone of doing it in the wrong way," a tag line that was first mentioned by Carney.

On the album cover instead of a realistic El Camino, a photograph of a Chrysler minivan is used.

Personal life

Ralph Carney, Carney's uncle, was best known for his collaboration with Tom Waits. Ralph died on December 16, 2017, after suffering head injury from falling down steps in his Portland, Oregon home.

Carney's father is a long-serving Akron Beacon Journal reporter. Mary Stormer, his mother, is an Akron Municipal Court deputy clerk. Barry Stormer, the owner of a residential design/construction company, is his stepfather. Katie Byard Carney, a retired Beacon Journal reporter, is his stepmother.

Carney attended Firestone High School in Akron, where he took art classes as part of the school's fine arts curriculum. Carney earned a degree from the Columbus College of Art and Design.

Career

Carney has been the art director for The Black Keys since their inception, and has been responsible for all of the band's album art.

Carney received a Grammy Award for his work on The Black Keys' sixth studio album, Brothers, in 2011. The album cover features a black background and the word "This is an album by the Black Keys." Brothers is the artist's name on this album. Nonesuch, the group's name, began to be confused, but the band and Michael gained utter support for the simplistic marketing. The album's disc was coated with a thermal film that changes colors (black and white) at different temperatures.

Carney was profiled in David Browne's "Inevitable Shrinking Album Cover" later this year.

The Black Keys introduced El Camino in 2011. Rather than an El Camino, the album cover, created by Carney, features a Chrystler minivan instead of an El Camino. The album cover was supposed to capture "the idea of doing it in the wrong way," Carney said. Rather than a realistic El Camino, a photograph of a Chrysler minivan is included on the album cover.

Vita Sackville-West revealed the novelist who consumed her and then cruelly cut her off

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 23, 2023
Hilda Matheson, a BBC executive, wrote letters to Vita Sackville-West (pictured), the 36-year-old poet and novelist who later planted a stunning garden in Sissinghurst, Kent, who later created a stunning garden. All in total, there are more than 100 letters, each carefully packaged in its date-stamped envelope. Not only do they document their raging clandestine affair, but they also shed new light on two of the twentieth century's most fascinating women.
