Standing (Sir John Ronald Leon, 4th Baronet) has been appearing on stage, television and the silver screen for more than 60 years. Most recently, the 89-year-old starred alongside Michael Caine in The Great Escaper - the true story of a veteran who broke out of his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary D-Day commemorations in Normandy. His grandfather, Sir Guy Standing, was a Hollywood star in the 1930s, and his actress mother Kay Hammond starred in Blithe Spirit in the West End during the war.

By the way, that doesn't mean I don't like or even love those photos (although not Titanic), which makes me wish the iceberg would strike a bit sooner). In a variety of electric, mild hybrid, and petrol models, the Italian automaker will debut the first production city car version on July 11th this year to mark its landmark 125th anniversary - as well as a new 'fun and functional' variant that follows every year. Fiat said that its new Panda, which was first introduced in 1980 and now in its third generation, was inspired by Turin's legendary Lingotto building with its popular oval rooftop test track - once Fiat's headquarters, starring Michael Caine and Noel Coward in the classic 1969 The Italian Job film, starring Michael Caine and Noel Coward.

The original was a hit, but this remake is as shapeless as a ghost, writes BRIAN VINER

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 21, 2024
Almost 40 years have passed since the original Ghostbusters arrived in the United Kingdom, and for those of us who recall seeing it back in December 1984, it was somewhat surprising. To make matters worse, I rewatched it recently, and it may have aged well beyond what we had expected. It was also a very popular film. It got Hollywood excited by the comedic potential of special effects, but society, albeit mainly in America, started to believe that the suffix 'busters' refers to everything.

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 8, 2024
Hollywood has a long tradition of producing couples with decades, even decades - the majority of the time older men are seen as attracted much younger women. Ortega, 21, plays 18-year-old Cairo Sweet in the black comedy, while British actor Freeman, 52, plays her tutor Jonathan Miller. According to the film's intimacy co-ordinator, the actress was 'certain of what she wanted to do' for her most explicit scene and was largely supported during filming. However, eyebrows have been trimmed before at age-gap movie romances with up to half a century between alleged on-screen lovers. Mail Online takes a look at some of the most striking 'May to December' pairings...

Your country NEEDS You!How millions were sent to fight in WWI and WWII after conscription was introduced - as Army chief issues rallying call to 'mobilise the nation' in face of Russian threat

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 24, 2024
It was a call that struck at all patriotic young men: Your Country Needs You. These words, which accompanied Army chief Lord Kitchener's face on posters all around the country, had helped to encourage one million people to participate in the First World War in January 1915. However, with casualties in their hundreds of thousands, the tide of volunteers was not strong, and so, in January 1916, conscription was introduced amid widespread resistance in some quarters. Some 2.5 million men had been ordered to serve by law by the time the Great War came to an end in 1918. As the government begins to'mobilize the troops' in the event of a wider conflict against Russia in the midst of Ukraine's war. Both men aged between 18 and 41 were called up in 1939, 1939, before unmarried women and widows of the age of 30 were also encouraged to serve in some manner. And although the war against Hitler came to an end in 1945, the National Service, which was based on a different name, was launched in 1947 and continued until 1960. But, sixty years after the film's premiere, Brian Viner reveals that Zulu's producers used filming in South Africa to expose apartheid's evils

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 19, 2024
On January 22, 1964, the world premiere of Zulu at the Plaza Theatre in London, was a glittering affair. Hundreds of soldiers from the South Wales Borderers regiment stood guard in the foyer as members of the film's crew arrived, including the still unknown Michael Caine with the 21-year-old actor and future fashion designer Edina Ronay on his arm. It's unlikely that he told his companion what his name was on tape with the Zulu extras, and not just because it was a mouthful: 'Indoda Enezinwele Nyengomnbazi'. It meant, 'The One With The Hair Of A Woman,' in a sense.

Pauline Boty, a pop art icon and Sixties girl, was on display in Alfie and met with Michael Caine in 1966 but she died of cancer at the age of 28 in 1966, as her legacy is honoured in a new exhibition

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 10, 2024

Now, a new exhibition is bringing the radical artist's life and work to the public eye. Pauline Boty: A Portrait, which is on display at the Gazelli Art House in west London, is showing several of her paintings, including one that honors Cuba's Fidel Castro's ascension to the communist regime.

Why London's private members' clubs have morphed from'stuffy old-boys clubs' to trendy hangouts coveted by A-listers... but where is the best new place to visit and be seen?

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 24, 2023
The clubs (such as the Garrick, top left) began as an exclusive way for aristocrats and the landed gentry to flee from the heavier aspects of their lives, including their families, to sit with their fellow men and debate world affairs over a glass of sherry. The barriers of gender and social class have generally diminished (Dear Darling, bottom right), but entering any of the capital's clubs' doors now requires not-insignificant financial contribution, or a degree of success that has been promised to open doors (pictured: celebrities leaving London's various private clubs). Despite this, several private clubs are now providing members with facilities away from prying eyes and the masses, from gyms to coworking spaces, and more.

TOM UTLEY: I'd hate for you to believe that I don't love my children, but their Christmas visit brings back all the horrors of parenthood

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 21, 2023
TOM UTLEY: My wife made a strange remark after we went to the theater this week with our two oldest grandchildren, ages six and three, to see the singalong version of The Muppet Christmas Carol. Michael Caine was sadly miscast as Scrooge, according to her. I didn't disagree with her because what she said was obviously true. However, I found her comment odd because, personally, I think Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy were even more miscast as Mr and Mrs Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim's parents. Nor was I entirely positive that Gonzo, a Muppet with blue and purple fur and an extended proboscis, was absolutely correct for the Victorian genius Charles Dickens. But then, I'm no film critic. What do I know? People will tell you that Christmas is a time for children, and that all that matters is that they should enjoy every minute of it. Well, I will admit that our grandchildren seemed to love The Muppet Christmas Carol inordinately. The main reason, I think, was because they'd seen it hundreds of times before, whether in the theater or on some online streaming service. After all, young children in the United Kingdom are unlikely to get bored of seeing the same movie or being read the same book over and over again.

How a £7 million 15-bedroom Tudor mansion with £100k-a-year energy bills now heats up after a novelist owner's eco-retrofit

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 8, 2023
Since falling in love with the house, Mr Keating bought Athelhampton House in Dorset in 2019. However, despite its obvious charm, the 15-bed home's electricity prices were less appealing, with him spending a whopping £100,000 a year, owing to the Ukraine-Russia war's escalating.

As he flies to LA and tucks into burgers at a luxury hotel, Harry and Meghan's biographer Omid Scobie brushes off the drama, despite reports that Endgame author's British publisher, 'DID sent a draft manuscript naming "two royal racists" to the Dutch translator.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 4, 2023
According to MailOnline, Scobie has escaped the drama surrounding Endgame and flown into Los Angeles for burgers and cocktails. In response to persistent skepticism over the Dutch version of his latest book naming two royals accused of questioning Archie's skin colour before he was born, the journalist and royal author, 42, moved out of Britain. Mr Scobie ate at the Sunset Tower Hotel, which was popular with Hollywood celebrities for decades, with Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Caine, Quincy Jones, Roger Moore, and Zsa Zsa Gabor regulars at the art deco museum. His trip to Los Angeles came after he learned that his UK agent did not send Endgame naming the two 'royal racists' in Dutch. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'cheerleader-in-chief's insistence that he'never submitted a book with the names in it' if true.'

Liz Taylor's iconic dress was in their Paris vaults for decades, according to Dior. In fact, it was STASHED IN A PLASTIC SUITCASE in the Twickenham home of a window cleaner's daughter

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 1, 2023
Liz Taylor wore the iconic gown when she won the 33rd Academy Awards for her role in Butterfield 8 in a glittering moment, was stashed in a suitcase at the home of a friend of the actor for decades. Although French fashion house Dior said for years that Taylor's Oscar dress was on display in its Paris archive, an email from a London auction house last year revealed the shocking truth about its whereabouts. The Mail is now telling the tale of how Taylor's gown came out stashed in the wardrobe of a window cleaner's daughter from London, who's likely to sell up to £100,000.

My parents stayed together for the sake of their kids and it screwed me up - I've had two failed marriages and wish my folks got divorced

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 22, 2023
"I should have married her in the first place," my father said to me a year after my mother died.' Dad, thanks for the memory. However, looking back, there were moments when my parents' 45-year marriage was in such blissful harmony. Nor was the dig particularly unusual. My younger brother was released relatively lightly, but then my father always wanted a boy. Despite the tumultuous atmosphere at home, Stanley and Marjorie's parents, stayed together through thick and thin, perhaps because this was the way things were then. However, far from inspiring me to embrace a life in a war zone, their tenacity made me vow never to relive an innocent child trapped in a war zone.

Fed up locals who live in the village where The Holiday and Bridget Jones's Diary was filmed now want to charge visitors to park and use public toilets

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 14, 2023
Locals who were born in the village made famous by The Holiday and Bridget Jones are now planning to invite visitors to visit. Every year, residents of Shere, Surrey's picturesque village, dread the holiday season. They complain that they are compelled to remain in their homes, unable to enjoy entertainment on their doorstep because their high street is jam-packed with movie enthusiasts every Winter. According to The Sun, the tension between homeowners and visitors has escalated so much that parish council members are considering to introduce parking fees. Locals are hoping that this will discourage people from visiting the village and reduce the number of cars parking. Jim Worsfold has lived in the village for 30 years and remembers when crews were in the area to film The Holiday. 'Parking has gotten more accessible over the years, and finding a spot in the downtown has always been a challenge.'

Virgin Australia workers have threatened to strike and cause flight disruption as a result of 'rock-bottom wages.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 13, 2023
According to a union, exhaustion, long hours, high turnover, and unrealistic turn-around times are behind the call for a vote on protected industrial action by the cabin crew at Virgin Australia. According to the Transport Workers Union (TWU), airline employees will apply for a protected action ballot on Monday in an attempt to pressure management to listen to their concerns.

The death knell for Mayfair's most iconic nightspot?Tara Palmer-Tomkinson became a Bond girl, Jack Nicholson and Prince Andrew partied and Mick Jagger hid his affair with Jerry Hall at celeb hangout Tramp that now faces uncertain future

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 2, 2023
Tramp, a wealthy, popular, and royal playground, has closed suddenly, and it seems that it has been illegally sold. After members of a £1,000 yearly subscription received an email advising them that the club has been canceled, a byword for nocturnal overindulgence, inebriation, and sinking into sensual dissatisfaction in Mayfair seems to be uncertain. Johnny Gold, the club's legendary Founder, opened the club on December 18, 1969. Mick Jagger was a founder member of the First Night, and hellraisers Peter Sellers, Michael Caine, and Richard Harris were with him on the opening night. Tramp became a film and rock 'n' roll celebrity overnight. When in London, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Marlon Brando, and Charlton Heston were all regulars. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor will both be able to pass by. On one night, three James Bonds, Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and George Lazenby were all in the club having dinner at the same time, which was Tramp's pulling power. Jack Nicholson French-kissed a tramp outside the club's unassuming entrance on Jermyn Street one night. Keith Moon, the Who's legendary drummer, had a penchant for removing all of his clothes and dancing naked. He was barred from removing a crystal chandelier on one occasion, but after his chauffeur returned with £500, he was allowed back 48 hours later, naked and strapped to his iconic white Rolls-Royce's bonnet before bursting away at dawn. George Best was at Tramp. Best once punched regular Sir Michael Caine on a night when the footballer appeared to muscle in on Bill Wyman's birthday, when the footballer uninhibitedly turned up with almost a dozen women in tow. In fact, it was reported that girls dressed up for Annabel's nearby Tramp and then they erupted for Tramp. Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was assured of her entry when she turned up in nothing more than a bikini under an open fur coat for her 21st birthday party.

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Mystery as Prince Andrew's favourite club Tramp - which once played host to stars including Michael Caine, Peter Sellers and Keith Moon - closes its doors

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 2, 2023
EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Could this be enough to make even Prince Andrew (right) break into a sweat? Tramp, the London nightclub where he reportedly whirled Virginia Roberts round the dancefloor, has abruptly closed in perplexing circumstances. Only four weeks ago when Tramp hosted Luther actor Idris Elba to celebrate the unveiling of his rosé champagne, Porte Noire, there was no hint of impending drama. But, just a fortnight later, five main executives, including Guy Sangster, son of late horse-breeding tycoon Robert Sangster, and Kevin Doyle, who purchased the club for £4 million, resigned in dissatisfaction with Tramp, which now owns Tramp.
