Merlin Santana (March 14, 1976 – November 9, 2002) was an American actor and singer.
Santana was best known for his appearances on The Cosby Show as Rudy Huxtable's boyfriend Stanley, Marcus Henry on Getting By, Marcus Henry on Under One Roof, and as high school student Romeo Santana on The WB sitcom The Steve Harvey Show.
Early life
Santana's show business career began in Upper Manhattan, New York City, to parents from the Dominican Republic, who wanted to keep him off the tough streets of New York. He began his work as an advertisement for a fast food franchise at the age of three. He made his first screen appearance in the Woody Allen film The Purple Rose of Cairo.
Acting career
Santana appeared on The Cosby Show in 1991 as Stanley, Rudy Huxtable's uncle, and Rudy's rival Kenny (Deon Richmond). Marcus Dixon was then starring Cindy Williams and Telma Hopkins in the short-lived sitcom Getting By. Due to Deon Richmond's appearance on The Cosby Show, he was cast as his brother, Darren.
Santana appeared on Sister, Sister as Joey, in which he falls in love with Tia and Tamera Mowry at Rocket Burger in November 1994.
Marcus Henry appeared in the short-lived CBS family drama Under One Roof, co-starring James Earl Jones, Joe Morton, and Vanessa Bell Calloway. He appeared on Moesha from 1996 to 1999.
He appeared on The Steve Harvey Show in 1996 as Romeo Santana. In 2001, he played Jermaine in the film Flossin. He appeared in Play'd: A Hip Hop Story with Toni Braxton in 2002.
