Chris Redd, another Saturday Night Live cast member, has departed just under two weeks before the Season 48 premiere. The 37-year-old comedian debuted as a featured actor on Season 43 in 2017 and was promoted to repertory actor in Season 45 in 2019. Redd's departure makes him the eighth cast member to leave between May and Season 48, debuting October 1.

When season 48 premieres later this fall, the cast of Saturday Night Live will be notably different. According to Deadline on Thursday, regular cast members Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseor have all left the long-running sketch comedy series, as well as featured actor Aristotle Athari. Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Kyle Mooney's departures will drastically alter the cast's makeup.
