Melissa Natalie Tkautz (born 24 January 1974) is an Australian actress, singer, model, host, and housewife of Sydney.
Tkautz appeared on the popular Australian television soap opera, E Street, from September 1990 to May 1993, as an actor.

Stefan, her father, died of cancer in 1999, and she co-wrote "Goodbye Daddy" (with Paul Wiltshire), which was based on Lost & Found in his honour. Tkautz told Woman's Day that she had been in love with her E Street co-star Simon Baker, but that she had wanted a long-term commitment but not at that point in his life; and then there was Marcus Graham who "betrayed her after four months." Baker's debut single, "Read My Lips," was also featured in a music video. Tkautz married Kwesi Nicholas, her partner of five years, in February 2009. Melissa Nicholas, Alexander Nicholas' married name, appears in her professional life. They have two children together.
Television career
In 1974, Tkautz was born in Sydney, Australia. "I had really strict parents," Tkautz explained. I wasn't allowed to do anything." Stefan Tkautz, her father, is from Austria, and Maltese's mother is from Austria. She studied drama, dance, and singing as a child, and then started modeling and appearing in commercials. She had appeared in over 160 television and print advertisements by the age of 17. Advertisements for Qantas and Cadbury were included in some of these. In the late 1980s, she started modelling and then appeared in television soap operas, Richmond Hill and Home & Away. In 1989, she entered the Miss Teen Australia competition.
Tkautz played Nikki Spencer on the Australian soap opera, E Street, in September 1990 at the age of 16 years old. "Nikki is everything I don't want to be," she said. "She smokes and she's definitely the kind of girl most parents would be horrified to see their children associating with." Tkautz became one of the show's top actors due to the success of her character. She attended the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art in Sydney during this period, graduating in 1991. Due to her fame, the makers of E Street decided to have Tkautz record a song, which would be used in the show as part of a dream sequence, in which her character imagines she is a pop star. This resulted in Tkautz's recording career, she later remembered, "I loved playing and I had trained as a singer, but everything happened so quickly, it was just a wild whirlwind." I'm sitting in one minute in my lounge room, the next minute I'm starring in E Street and I've got a number one single in the charts." However, Tkautz left E Street in November 1991 due to the pressures of juggling two full-time careers and a rivalry with Forrest Redlich, the writer, Forrest Redlich's exile, Tkautz left E Street to concentrate on her music career. She was nominated for Most Popular New Talent in 1992 at the Television Week-sponsored Logie Awards. Tkautz had returned to E Street by November 1992. However, in May 1993, the network decided to suspend the show.
Tkautz appeared on Paradise Beach in 1993 and 1994, portraying Vanessa Campbell, Sean Hayden's manipulative ex-girlfriend (played by Ingo Rademacher). Tkautz characterized her character as "[s]he's a tadpole, a real bitch... She's nothing like Nicki in E Street. This one is definitely a challenger." She appeared in Echo Point in 1995. Tkautz appeared on the television show Pacific Drive in 1996, where she played Bethany Daniels, a woman. This role had a major influence on Tkautz, who was playing the first long-term HIV positive character on Australian television. "I did a lot of research on the subject and a lot of charity work with HIV [patients], especially young children who had contracted the disease," she explained. The series developed a cult following. Music career
Tkautz was signed to Westside Records, a label that E Street's designers', and released her debut album, "Read My Lips." "I thought it was too raunchy for Toni Pearen and too teeny-bopper for Alyssa Cook," Redlich explained why Tkautz was chosen ahead of her co-stars. In May 1991, it was promoted via the show and published, achieving the number one spot on the ARIA Singles Chart in July. Tony King and Roy Nicolson wrote the track and Leon Berger produced it. It was the best-selling single for the first year at the ARIA Music Awards in 1992. On the comedy television show "Faster," Gina Riley parodied the song as "Pout Your Lips." Berger, Alston Koch, and Doug Henderson wrote "Say Goodbye" on the single's B-side. Tkautz has re-recorded "Read My Lips" twice: the first version as the "Read My Lips)" in 1991, which was to be included as a bonus track on her forthcoming third album, Glamorous Life, and the second version as the "Read My Lips (Neon Stereo Remix)," which was performed live by Tkautz on Channel 7's The Morning Show.

Tkautz's latest single, a cover version of "The Glamorous Life," a 1984 work by Sheila E and written by Prince, debuted at No. 11 in September 2005. "Sexy (Is the Word)," which was also included on Lost & Found as a bonus track on Lost & Found in that year. Tkautz went to Sweden in early 2006 to work with 2N, and there, she performed her next single, "Easily Affected," and "Not Enough." "The Glamorous Life" by her mother had some success around the world. It was distributed in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, Russia, and Canada. Sam Kekovich, an Australian comedian, released a music video as an advertisement for Australian lamb meat, which was a spin on Aqua's hit "Barbie Girl"; it featured vocals by Tkautz and an appearance by hip-hop dance and pop music group Justice Crew in January 2012. "I]t's the most profitable lamb campaign in terms of lamb sales," Meat and Livestock Australia's marketing manager Andrew Cox said on Facebook and Twitter, "people were able to post our 'Barbie Girl' song." Tkautz released The Hits & More in August, which was followed by a tour promoting its appearance.
Heaven Productions, a British producer, seventh Heaven Productions, reported on their website that they had remixed Melissa's song Not Enough, and that Tkautz would announce it as a forthcoming single release. Since this announcement, no bootleg or a preview of the track has been released as of yet. Fans are hoping that this will be announced in the future.
Melissa revealed in December 2017 that she would be going back to the recording studio in January to record her next album. According to her, the current album is a duet with another well-known singer. As of January 30, there are no release dates or details about this scheme.
