Sports Interactive, the team behind the Football Manager video games, has sparked controversy by stating that as long as consent law is not broken, it is legal for an 18-year-old to date a 15-year-old. Miles Jacobson (left) of Brazil made the remark after signing for Watford aged 18 in 2020 because his mother, who was then a 15-year-old TV star called Mel Maia (left, together), referring to Brazilian footballer Joao Pedro, who raised eyebrows when he signed for Watford aged 18 years ago. In Brazil, the legal age of consent is 14 years old, two years younger than in the United Kingdom. Miss Maia will remain in Brazil until she turned 16 when Pedro signed for Watford. She is now 18 years old, but they haven't met since split up. Mr Jacobson, a Watford fan who was given an OBE in 2011 for his work on the game, also admitted dating an 18-year-old woman when he was 15 years old. Pedro isn't saying that he has ever done anything wrong, as shown by the Newcastle United's photos, but reports of his old friend's nexus are reigniting intense curiosity again.
