After she begged the grey lady's LGBTQ employees to avoid reporting about the company on a Slack channel, a human resources executive at the New York Times has piqued their suspicions. According to the Daily Beast, executive Natalia Villalobos made the remarks in a post on a channel named TimesOut, a group specifically for LGBTQ employees. The article began, "I just wanted to send a note about investigating or reporting your work to ensure that everyone knows about our services."

The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, the British author, said she had been sent "direct threats of violence" while on a recent podcast. After it said that members who openly condemned the paper's coverage of transgender issues are shielded from a "hostile work environment," New York Times contributor Jeremy Peters attacked the union, "stifling 'journalistic democracy." Nearly 1,000 current and former writers at the newspaper replied to a letter last week criticizing transgender issues, to which New York Times chiefs said that participating in 'protests organized by advocacy organizations' was against the letter and spirit of our journalistic policies,' but Peters wrote a letter defending the union.'
