Megan McDonald, the niece of a retired NYPD detective, was 20 years old when she was assassinated in 2003 and her body was discovered on a dirt path in upstate New York. She died as a result of blunt force trauma, having been bludgeoned to death inside her own vehicle. Edward Holley, 42, who was paralyzed in a 2007 car accident, was charged with her murder last year. Now the family has shifted their attention to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, who they claim obtained a negotiated plea bargain to Holley but did not reveal that he had previously represented another perpetrator. Karen Whalen and Mother Elizabeth McDonald lodged discipline charges against Hoovler and four of his employees, triggering an investigation into the murder investigation.
