Yesterday we celebrated the life of Zack Estrin. It doesn’t feel real. I’ve been trying to get myself to sit down and write something for the past several days, but there’s no explanation, essay, or cluster of stories that could accurately describe the role that he played in me and my family’s lives. Zack was more than a boss. He was more than a creative partner. He was a reason to look forward to going to work on the side of a freezing cold, raining mountain at 5 in the morning. He was endless laughter that warmed our ever growing space family in dark sound stages. In truth, Zack was my mentor and my friend. He was an inspiration for me everyday. He could make me laugh harder than anyone, and he made me want to be the best version of myself everyday. Zack, I’m going to miss you man. I’m going to miss having someone to call when I have a question about this colossal business. I’m going to miss the beach days. Im going to miss looking forward to our next project together. But most of all, I’m just going to miss you man. Im going to miss the presence of just knowing you were there. You had a way of making this ginormous industry feel a bit smaller, warmer, and a bit more like home. I am forever sad to see you go, but even more grateful you were here. Something I always knew, but was even more evident yesterday, was that you made everyone’s life you touched that much brighter, funnier, and more meaningful. Thank you for everything Zack. I will continue to carry your legacy of kindness, respect, and perhaps a little inappropriate humor throughout my life. I hope to make you proud.♥️💛
