Mathis Olimb (born February 1, 1986) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey forward who plays for Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).
He is the older brother of fellow Norwegian international Ken André Olimb.
Playing career
Olimb began his career in 2002 in the Norwegian GET-league, playing for Värenga, where he grew up. He finished second among the point leaders in the 2006–07 season, and was instrumental in winning the second straight Norwegian national championship with Visserenga.
He joined Augsburger Panther of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in 2007. On June 27, 2009, he signed a two-year contract with Frölunda HC of the Swedish Elitserien after two seasons in Germany. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks to a one-year contract on June 17, 2010.
The Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, for the entire 2010–11 season, Olimb returned to Frölunda HC after signing a two-year deal on April 29, 2011. He will continue to play for Frölunda until the end of the 2014-15 season. Olimb's last season with Frölunda, he also competed in the Champions Hockey League: He scored eight goals and 18 assists en route to 2014-15 Champions Hockey League MVP honors.
He signed for Jokerit of the KHL on April 15, 2015, and then on to the Kloten Flyers of the Swiss NLA in December 2015. Olimb inked a deal with Swedish Linköpings HC in April 2016, where he will compete alongside his brother Ken André throughout the season.
Olimb remained as a free agent in Sweden after playing three seasons and returned to the DEL in signing a two-year deal with Grizzlys Wolfsburg, Germany.
