I didn't tell my fiancee about the money I inherited and now I've kept it secret for too long - what should I do?Money psychotherapist VICKY REYNAL replies

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 4, 2024
My partner and I have been together for seven years. We live together, and a few months ago we decided to get married because it seemed to be important to her. I have always been less interested in marriage as a child, but it was an uncomfortable process. We'd be able to handle money as a couple, but six months ago, I received a substantial inheritance after my great aunt's death, but I hadn't told her about it. My fiancee is savvy with money, so it is not as though I am worried that it would change her spending habits. And now that I've kept it a mystery for too long, I'm afraid that telling her right now will result in a lot of fighting. We've started to look at buying a flat together, so it's important information that we'll have to share. What should I do?

PETER HITCHENS: Child voters? We need a shrewd electorate who can spot the scammers

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 20, 2023
PETER HITCHENS: Why do people think that, the more of us who have the vote, the more democratic and free a country will be? You can vote in Cuba at 16, but only for the gruesome Castro regime. In Scotland, you can vote at 16 places and see where the government has gathered them. By contrast, Taiwan, the socialist republic in the East, does not allow you to vote until you turn 20. I like 40. I was one of the first people to vote at 18, 1970 General Election, and I suspected then - as I now recall - that I was much too young and inexperienced to have a say in how the country was run. I regret to say that this didn't discourage me from voting. But in the years that I've been away from the ballot box, I've often agreed that staying away from the poll box was better for everybody, including me. These days, this is because I do not want to be in any way responsible for the British Government's scandalous farce. I do not respect them. So why should I help to make them legitimate? The electorate's greatest power, which has never been used before, is to remain at home in our millions on polling day, until we are given candidates who actually speak and work for us.

You can create your inner sloven and even change your life by embracing your inner sloven

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 7, 2023
Everyone has The Chair, according to Kerri Sackville. You know the one. In the corner of your bedroom, the seat is missing. Maybe it's wooden. Maybe it's cushioned. Maybe it's a chair, wheeled away from its desk-bound destiny. You've never sat in The Chair and can't see it because piles and piles of clothes are heaped on top of it, which is neither useful nor necessary. "Even my very helpful companion has a chair," Sackville says. The clothes are on because they "need ironing," he says. Does he iron them? Not that I've seen. Could they be hung in the wardrobe while waiting for the mythical ironing?

The (4th?) Just Broke Over 2 Years Later, the most famous Donald Trump Scandal is finished

perezhilton.com, January 27, 2023
It's probably impossible to rank Donald Trump scandals. We’d be here all day! However, this is certainly one of the most significant cases from a rule of law perspective. It's just that, you know, it's a little late to the game. But you know what?We know about it now! Okay, let's rewind. Remember the Mueller Probe? Robert Mueller, the Russian government's prosecutor, was chosen as a special counsel to look at any potential collusion between agents of the Russian government and Donald Trump. It was a critical job because we don't want people in office who are largely accountable to foreign interests. The differences between Russia's interests and what America needs are quite different, particularly with a crooked killer like Vladimir Putin in charge of over there.

How Delmonico's become a landmark in New York City: will it ever reopen?

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 23, 2023
Delmonico's revolutionized American dining with a la carte French cuisine, white tablecloths, and printed menus - it was the first restaurant to be reviewed by the New York Times in 1859. Abraham Lincoln's signature mashed potatoes, as well as its delectable Delmonico thick-cut steak, are among the restaurant's most popular Eggs Benedict, Lobster Newberg, Baked Alaska, and wedge salad dishes. Mark Twain, top right, held a lavish birthday party at the venue, but 1970s stars like Stevie Wonder, left, and the set of John Wick, bottom right, gathered.

MAIL COMMENTS: Prince Harry is shamed by this assault

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 9, 2023
COMMENT FROM THE DAILY MAIL: Prince Harry has launched several scathing attacks against his families, but perhaps the most cruel and unjustified was directed at his stepmother, the Queen Consort. Painting Camilla as one of the main villains in his narcissistic tale of woe when he knows she can't publicly defend herself is an example of bullying that he himself denies. It's also unfair. Camilla has earned a special place in the nation's hearts despite being vilified in the years leading up to Princess Diana's death.

On Tuesday, the former Liberal employee was seen getting emotional as she left the courthouse after the first day of the trial, with what looked to be mascara running down her face. Ms Higgins' intoxication, according to prosecutors Shane Drumgold SC, was crucial to her decision and allowed her to consent. In Ms Higgins' version of events, the accused man's lawyer told the court that there are 'huge holes.' Due to the trial's high-profile nature, Chief Justice McCallum likened it to a 'cause celebre.' The trial is expected to last between four and six weeks.

DOMINIC SANDBROOK, a former lecturer, gives his displeasure with higher education

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 2, 2022
DOMINIC SANDBROOK: Now that the summer sun is out, many families' minds are shifting to new horizons. In the coming weeks, 425,830 students will embark on the great adventure of life at university (picture: file photo). For many of us, it's a seminal rite of passage: the first extended spell away from home, the first lecture, the first seminar, and the first hangover... With more than half of those in their late teens and 20s moving to higher education, the numbers have doubled since my student days 30 years ago. Nevertheless, students of higher education aren't completely satisfied. Tony Blair, who set a target of 50% before becoming Prime Minister in 1997, leapt from below his pulpit just over a few months ago to state that 75% of school-leavers should go to university, despite not necessarily naming where they will live, who will teach them, or who will pay for it.

The use of the N-word by Huckleberry Finn has sparked warnings for university students

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 25, 2022
Mark Twain's masterpiece, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, has been given a 'trigger warning' by Exeter University. Staff characterized the portrayal of a slave as 'problematic in a variety of ways, not least because of Huck's use of the word N-word throughout the book.' The 1884 book, which is a sequel to Tom Sawyer's Adventures, tells the tale of a river ride for young Huck Finn and his buddy Jim, a black man who escaped slavery. Academics have used it as an example of anti-racist literature for decades.

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 14, 2022

Green fields have turned permanently brown (pictured). Food is limited, and drinking water is limited. Industry is on the decline. Blackouts are normal. Wildfires are raging in the desert. Pollution is on the rise. Diseases are spreading. And families and communities are now in conflict. 'Whiskey is for drinking,' Mark Twain said. Water is for battling over.' We now know he was correct.
