He is best known for his appearances in The Office, Better Call Saul, and What We Do In The Shadows television series, as well as a cynized version of himself in the On Cinema universe.
He first came to fame as he played the role "K-Strass," a parody of a yo-yo master who became a internet sensation after appearing on local news shows.
Early life
Proksch grew up in Onalaska, Wisconsin, and is a graduate of Onalaska High School and the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.
Television career
Proksch appeared on The Office as Nate, Dwight Schrute's inability, and the office handyman. He appeared in 19 episodes during the show's final three seasons. Proksch appeared in the NBC television pilot Holding Patterns in March 2013. In the Adventure Time episode "Bad Timing," Johnnie appeared as the protagonist Johnnie. Proksch appeared in an episode of Portlandia as Carrie Brownstein's love interest in March 2014. Daniel "Pryce" Wormald, a recurring character on AMC's Better Call Saul, a precursor to Breaking Bad, appeared from 2015 to 2017. Proksch appeared in the Adult Swim program Dream Corp LLC from 2014 to 2020 as the character "Randy Blink." Proksch appeared in Season 3, Episode 1 of Drunk History in which he shared the Bone Wars.
Proksch plays a fictionalized version of himself in the On Cinema universe, in which he performs a number of impersonations, including W.C. Fields and The Marx Brothers. During the 5th Annual On Cinema Oscar special, the fictional Proksch was briefly declared dead after being suffocated inside a heavy diving suit during a Jaws impersonation competition. In season ten's VR episodes, his character appears briefly, when the camera is turned on his comatose body. This takes place during Gregg Turkington's old audition tapes for films he hasn't appeared in. In the 6th Annual Oscar special titled "The Living Oscar," his comatose body appears again. Pre-recorded terms in his voice are used in response to Oscar trivia, as he was gold-plated and strapped to a gurney. During one segment of a recent Oscar nominated film, his comatose body is gradually rotated around a series of previous Oscar nominated films. He awakenes after being knocked over by host Tim Heidecker and spends the remainder of the program in a state of confusion and surprise while bleeding from a broken nose. In the new season of On Cinema, the fictional Proksch looked even more confused. He went missing after being beaten in a Los Angeles Police Department holding cell when he was wrongly arrested for selling VHS copies of public domain films with Gregg. A short video clip that seems to depicts the fictional Proksch family appears on the 8th Annual Oscar special, and it says he no longer wishes to be associated with the hosts of On Cinema.
In the first three seasons of FX's What We Do in the Shadows, Colin Robinson appeared as an energy vampire before reincarnating Colin Robinson as a boy and teen named ("The Boy") following his original Colin's death in the third season finale.
