My mum only told me she loved me once. That's why I say it to my own daughters all the time, says Daisy Goodwin

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 11, 2024
As a child, the only time I remember my mother, pictured left with Daisy, telling me that she loved me was when she was explaining to my younger brother and me that she was never going to live with us again. That is why I have always been careful to tell my children, including Lydia, pictured right, that I love them when they don't pass an exam or fail to get the job that they wanted.

The 48-year-old Oscar winner turned heads with her much lighter locks after grabbing a bite to eat at the $400-per-person strip mall sushi joint. Although the majority of her hair seemed to be a golden, honey-blonde color, she decided to keep her roots dark and minimal makeup to highlight her natural beauty. Maria Callas, the actress, who recently wrapped filming on her upcoming film Maria, in which she portrays iconic opera singer Maria Callas, wore an oversized jacket over a long white dress for the evening out with her eldest.

Maria Callas' betrayal was the equivalent of every operatic tragedy

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 22, 2023
DAISY GOODWIN: When I first heard Maria Callas sing, I was only eight years old. In the Oxfam store, my mother had obtained an album of the soprano's most popular arias.

With Jackie Kennedy, Onassis spied Maria Callas was the equal of any operatic tragedy. Angelina Jolie is obsessive over her book, writes DAISY GOODWIN, who spent three years researching the diva's life for her latest book

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 21, 2023
DAISY GOODWIN: I was only eight years old when Maria Callas first heard her sing. My mother had bought an album of the soprano's most famous arias in the Oxfam shop, and she placed it on the record player, who was ecstatic by her discovery. Casta Diva, a Norma film, made everyone in the room, my restless mother, my ferocious stepfather, and my furious little brother go quiet as we all fell under Callas' spell. Her voice is one I'd recognize anywhere; it has an urgency that defies you not to listen. There are opera singers with more nimble voices, but Callas makes you believe in the music. The album jacket had the same dramatic tone as the music. Large, dark eyes, a majestic nose, and a wide, generous mouth are all in evidence. It was not a pretty face, but in it you could see both sadness and majesty. It was the queen's face. Maria Callas lived with me through my turbulent teenage years. Her voice could at any time jolt a slew of self-pity. There was something in the way she sang that was fearless.

Why Hollywood has finally awakened to the... Wonder of Waddingham: A figure like Monroe's, a voice to rival Maria Callas, but Hannah Waddingham's rise is the most surprising part of her rise

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 4, 2023
Hannah Waddingham embodies the tumultuous Christmas holiday she faces every year, wearing a glue gun in her sparkly party gown and slugging white wine. She's tipsy and tousle-haired, has kicked her stilettos off her weary feet and - oops! In her wine, there's cotton wool. We've all been there, Hannah, and it's not surprising that she has, too. The 49-year-old London-born actress, the face of this year's festive M&S commercial, is quickly becoming a national treasure: relatable, down-to-earth, and quintessentially British.

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 14, 2023
Maria Callas' tragic life is about to be told bare in a new biopic led by Angelina Jolie - and there's a lot to learn. Fans of the brunette beauty branded it The Divine and she accepted it with open arms, even telling her devotees: "I have been touched by the hand of God." However, Callas seems to have been more cursed than blessed, if anything. It was a similar tale throughout her life: a veneer of remarkable professional accomplishment, acclaim, glamour, and wealth that masks an undercurrent of misery and poverty. Her glamorous life was marred by poverty and betrayal, including that she was swindled by her husband and father, was occasionally medicated and sexually assaulted by her abusive husband, and a mother who tried to force her into prostitution. Here, FEMAIL has bared the tragic tale of the actor.

The nondescript white cardboard box lay in a shadowy corner of the attic, and was forgotten for years. The box was only opened when its disgusting contents were revealed. And as Kennedy's replacement Lyndon B Johnson was sworn in as President aboard Air Force One, the First Lady refused to take off the bloodstained suit, saying, 'Let them see what they've done.'
